Interesting facts about blood pressure. BUT I think doctors love scaring the bejaysus out of people. Somebody mentioned calibration of machines and the user of the blood pressure monitor. Both are true! The machine in the pharmacy isn't calibrated. Also I am only an over the counter sales assistant but have been trained in operating the machine. I do 2 readings usually if the 1st is high. maybe they have had a coffee, maybe they are going through a stressful time, maybe they drink too much alcohol, maybe not enough fruit and vegetables consumed. Maybe their genes are making cardiac issues, maybe they get zero exercise, maybe they smoke, maybe they use salt in their diet too much. Maybe they are very old and their body is just getting on. I think to say this EVEN if it's true would make people freak out! But it is interesting 'cos if someone comes into me, although I show the pharmacist high readings, we never worry if the top reading is under 130. And due to this being a doctor I bow to his knowledge, but interesting to see...
Think your blood pressure (BP) is under control? If it is routinely in the 130-150 range compared to the 110 - 130 range then your risk of: Major Heart Events ⬆️ 26% Stroke ⬆️ 33% Heart Attack ⬆️ 33% Heart Failure ⬆️ 73% Heart Death ⬆️ 28% Still think your BP is under control?

Do you know how to take your blood pressure? Remember that the studies cited here were based on blood pressures observed in patients, all of which were collected in different ways. There is only one true way to take your blood pressure and you need to learn that otherwise you're taking action based on flawed data.

Stress tests show how well your heart functions when it's hard at work. Some cardiac problems are easier to detect when your heart is pumping blood really fast. We offer on-site stress testing in a controlled environment where heart rate, heart rhythm and blood pressure are monitored.
