PowerHouse Data Centers and Chirisa Technology Parks have partnered to launch Digital Drive - a next-generation hyperscale campus in Chesterfield County. The project will feature five state-of-the-art, AI-ready data center facilities totaling over 600,000 square feet. This project is a significant step forward in supporting the growing demands of AI infrastructure. “When completed, the campus will provide a scalable, flexible infrastructure that accelerates time-to-market for hyper scalers and enterprises alike," said Doug Fleit, Co-founder and CEO of PowerHouse. "As the market continues to shift towards higher-density, AI-ready workloads, Richmond is becoming a central hub for these types of developments, and we are proud to play a key role in that growth." Compass Datacenters has made a major move in the booming Phoenix data center market, acquiring 121 acres in the El Mirage area to develop a new 108MW campus. The $79.3 million land purchase from Dermody Properties is slated for a three-building campus dubbed PHX II, with each single-story facility offering 36MW of capacity across 208,000 sq ft. This builds on Compass' existing Phoenix-area presence with their 242MW campus in Goodyear that broke ground in 2019 on a 190-acre site. The greater Phoenix region continues attracting huge data center investment from major players like CyrusOne, NTT, STACK Infrastructure, Stream Data Centers, Prime Data Centers, Aligned Data Centers, Iron Mountain, Vantage Data Centers, QTS Data Centers, EdgeConneX all operates a cloud region out of the area, capitalizing on the area's affordable power, land, and favourable climate. Compass Datacenters is positioning itself to capitalize on this demand with its multi-campus Phoenix strategy spanning El Mirage and Goodyear. The company's ability to rapidly develop large campuses will be a key advantage.
