It could be as simple as "lifting up the couch cushion and finding spare change." 💰 If you want to start accepting #crypto #donations don't assume it means creating an entirely new strategy to target net new donors. ❌ Many #nonprofits fall into the trap of, "we don't have any crypto donors because no one has ever asked about it." 🤷♂️ Step 1 - Tell your #existing donors. 📣 Our clients are always shocked at how much crypto is already in their existing donor base. They just never asked, or donors were unaware it was a way to give. 👀 That's the simple, low-hanging fruit you don't want to miss when starting to take crypto. 🍎 Sure, you might peek under the couch and just find a small surprise... or it might be your next major gift(s) that you had no idea were sitting right there. 🌟 #ask #supporters

#Nonprofits: Like it or not, this is happening right now. Website visitors don't see a donate crypto option? They typically won't call. Instead these masses are able to walk right through another charity's "Donate Crypto" door and can give in a nearly frictionless way. Look at it from their perspective: Option A, I have to take time to call or email a charity, wait for a response, not sure how easy or complicated the process will be, will they even know how to accept my crypto gift? Option B: Here's an org that accepts crypto: Click here, click here, gift done. Open your doors to #crypto donors. It's so easy. #CryptoforGood #cryptophilanthropy

As I listened to my conversation with Pat Duffy again, I was struck by how his advice was not just a masterclass on the nuances of crypto and bitcoin, but a practical reminder to better market the charitable possibilities for these kinds of non-traditional gifts at your nonprofit organization. The potential is clear; what are you going to do about it??? This episode will give you a plan (link in the comments). Thanks again to our friends at Armstrong McGuire & Associates for making these conversations possible each week. Check out the show notes for today's episode #293 for links and resources from the AM team as well as from The Giving Block for more information about their custom solutions if you're ready to integrate crypto giving into your fundraising plan. #nonproftleadership #crypto #philanthropy #fundraising

The crypto bull run in 2024-2025 is bringing new opportunities for nonprofits. Many of your current supporters are also crypto donors. Our data shows that the majority of crypto donations come from your existing donors. Saying nothing of the new donors and relationships just having a crypto option opens up for you. By creating a clear pathway for them, you’re opening the door to future success. With The Trillion-Dollar Giveaway (aka great wealth transfer) already underway, not adding crypto to your fundraising tools means you're missing an entire donor demographic. I’m not suggesting you need to go "all-in" and put all other priorities aside. But now's the time to take the first step and explore the possibilities. Make 2024 the year your nonprofit moves off the sidelines. ✅ #nonprofits #crypto #cryptophilanthropy #cryptoforgood #fundraising #giving #donors #impact #success #newpath #bullmarket #opportunities

A thought. I like the timing of the substantial gains in the crypto & digital asset market, year-end tax planning, and the season of giving. Something many people do not realize is that you can donate appreciated crypto assets (BTC, ETH, SOL) as a charitable donation (very similar to donating appreciated stock shares). Smaller organizations may not have the ability but many charitable funds with the larger brokers, also called donor advised funds, will accept crypto as a contribution. If you convert it to dollars and donate, you will be taxed on the appreciated amount and as a result have less to donate. Why not donate the appreciated crypto instead? Plenty of charities to help out there. Consult your advisor or a tax professional as it may involve a couple extra steps. This is not meant to be tax advice, just something to consider. Happy Thanksgiving!
