In a groundbreaking study, #TeamUHN researchers found that molecular profiling of one of the most common brain tumours can help identify the best treatment results. "One of the most challenging clinical decisions to make in the care of meningioma patients is deciding which patients should receive radiation treatment after surgery for their tumour," says Dr. Gelareh Zadeh, co-supervisor of this study and co-director of UHN's Krembil Research Institute. The findings from this study highlight the potential for molecular profiling to refine surgical and radiotherapy decision-making, and improve patient outcomes in the future. Results from this survey will help us identifying strategies to improve patient participation in perioperative care and patient-reported outcomes Lung Cancer Europe European Society of Thoracic Surgeons
Have you, or someone you know, had thoracic surgery for lung cancer? We’re inviting individuals who have personally undergone thoracic surgery to share their experiences by completing a quick, anonymous survey: https://lnkd.in/dUz6hWZk The insights from this survey will help improve care and support for others going through similar procedures. Led by surgeons at the University of Hull and partner institutions across Europe, the project aims to better understand the needs of patients during their surgical journey and enhance decision-making processes. Thank you for your support—it really makes a difference. #LungCancerSurgery #ThoracicSurgery #LungCancerTreatment

Congratulations to Cinira Diogo, PhD, D. ABNM, Brooke Callahan, Au.D. DABNM, and the entire team behind the recent published study in the Journal of Neurointerventional Surgery on the impact of intraoperative neuromonitoring (#IONM) on #TCAR surgeries. With findings showing IONM's high sensitivity (100%) and specificity (99.2%) in predicting patient outcomes, it's clear that this monitoring technique is a crucial tool for TCAR surgeries. It's exciting to see such impactful research contributing to the field. This achievement exemplifies how teamwork, dedication, and innovative thinking can lead to advancements that benefit patients and practitioners alike. For an in-depth look at their findings, you can find the article here. https://lnkd.in/gMewitri You can also write the author Dr. Diogo for a copy at ciniraa.diogo@gmail.com #neurointervention #neurophysiology #neurovascular #ASNM #vascularsurgery

Just uploaded my short (3 min) talk on my minimally invasive approach to removing and stabilizing spinal tumors causing MESCC (metastatic epidural spinal cord compression) that avoids large procedures, extensive spinal instrumentation, but give equivalent to superior outcomes for the patient by reducing complications, making the procedure easier to tolerate, and speeding use of adjuvant therapy. This was presented September 2024 at the 2024 SMISS (Society for Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery) in Las Vegas. More on this subject coming, as we've submitted for publication our full article, but this is a bit of a "teaser trailer" of bigger results to come, including a soon-to-be-released longer version of this talk that I just gave at the 2024 American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress in San Francisco. https://lnkd.in/eXvHfRZt
