I also like the fact that this demonstrates not only the need for but also the possibility of translating some of the great works of literature over and over again; the fact that a book was translated, say, almost 100 years ago doesn't mean that it cannot or shouldn't be translated again today. It also shows that there is no perfect or ultimate #translation of anything. Any text, whether commercial or literary can be translated in myriad ways—as long as the translation in the target language observes and complies with all the usual rules of the language, such as in terms of spelling and grammar, syntax, expressions and so on. #LITranslators

We find in these chaotic days a picture in miniature of the sickness that has overtaken “the Jewish state,” the shameless apology those purporting to lead the Western post-democracies make for the straight-out barbarities of Zionist zealots, and the full-frontal disinformation spread by corporate and state-funded media as they pose as the first line of defense against disinformation. It’s a three-fer, then, the whole banana in one place and at one time —all of this in the cause of the Zionist regime as it prosecutes its yearlong genocide in Gaza and sets about expanding its campaign of murder and destruction across West Asia. Bad enough that planeloads of freak-show Israeli extremists arrived in Amsterdam last week for a match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax, the famous Dutch side, and instantly set about terrorizing the city in the name of Zionist chauvinism. Worse were the authorities, starting but not ending with Amsterdam’s mayor and the Dutch foreign and prime ministers, recasting what was bound to follow as anti–Semitism, a 21st century pogrom, and so on down the list of hyperbolic absurdities.
