The Reuters Institute published an interesting new report on digital platforms. One of the key observations is the symbiotic relation between the use of these platforms for news and the use of online news from broadcasters and publishers. People who use platforms for news and information about politics are more likely to also use online news from broadcast and print brands. For example, among those who do not use social media for news and information about politics, 22% use a newspaper website – but this rises to 39% among those that do use social media.
