Did you know your eyes can detect a single photon of light thanks to rod cells? These specialized cells in the retina are essential for night vision, helping us see in low-light conditions. Unlike cone cells, which detect color, rod cells are highly sensitive to light but don’t perceive color, making them vital for seeing in the dark. With Dragonfly 3D World, rod cells can be segmented from complex retinal tissue and visualized in high-resolution 3D. This detailed view allows for a deeper understanding of how the cells are structured and function, opening the door to potential innovations in vision-related technologies. #RodCells #NightVision #Dragonfly3D #3DModeling #EyeHealth #CellSegmentation #Retina #Biological #Imaging #Bioimaging #FIBSEM

Excelitas Technologies Corp./Excelitas PCO GmbH presents the pco.flim X imaging system for determining fluorescence lifetime in the frequency domain (FD-FLIM). With 1,080x1,080 pixels and 45 double images per second, it can be used for the modulation frequency range 5 kHz - 40 MHz. The new system replaces pco.flim. Instead of a point scanning process, the manufacturer uses area image sensors and thereby achieves maximum speeds and throughputs. https://lnkd.in/eB_HiFsp #imaging #imageprocessing #biology #lifescience

We’re thrilled to announce a new #AppNote created together with Ronawk exploring the use of our AX / AX R #Confocal #Microscopy system for imaging Ronawk’s Bio-Blocks™! Bio-Blocks are a 3D, tissue-mimetic, and modular cell culture system providing improved physiological relevance, demonstrated in this case for culturing adipose #StemCells. A major hurdle for imaging any 3D cell culture system is attaining the same level of subcellular detail realized with traditional adherent cell cultures. The AX, together with our #NSPARC #ImageScanningMicroscopy detector, makes it possible to resolve these details and with a high level of optical sectioning deep into the sample. Video features a 3D view of cells that proliferated into a Bio-Block microchannel, imaged using our 40x Plan Apo Lambda S silicone immersion lens and comparing the performance of a traditional PMT detector with the NSPARC.
