While PROTACs are revolutionizing small molecule drug development as witnessed by a rapid growth in the number of clinical trials, there are some important challenges that must be addressed before they can enter widespread clinical usage # Ensuring PROTACs only bind to target proteins in damaged or unhealthy cells A potential solution to this issue is designing novel types of PROTACs such as PHOTACs and CLIPTACs, which are likely to allow the spatiotemporal release of active PROTACs. # Effective Characterization- most characterization techniques focus on testing whether the designed PROTACs bind to a protein of interest but do not test or consider interactions between PROTACs and the protein of interest within a live cell # designing strategies for oral administration https://lnkd.in/g-8ixUkY
