We are experts in the ecology of transport. They are becoming experts too. Last week, we were pleased to welcome students from the Ecology of Transport program at the Politechnika Poznańska to our headquarters in Bolechowo. Our company is an excellent place for passionate young adepts to observe the practical implementation of ecological public transport principles. The fact that 82% of the buses we produced last year were zero-emission is ultimate proof that we are undisputed experts in the field of e-mobility. And we know this is just the beginning — more and more public transport operators are joining us in the transformation towards green public transport in their cities. We thank Professor Jerzy Merkisz and his students for their visit, and Piotr Malaca for introducing the guests to our activities in the field of zero-emission vehicles. We will be happy to welcome you again. This is where professionals meet. Job offers at our company: https://lnkd.in/e8jYFD3 #development #career #ecology #publictransport

🌟#Biodiversity has always been underrepresented in #sustainability indexes. Through Leonardo da Silva Tomadon's thesis, we have overcome this obstacle and introduced #scientific and #technological #innovation. I'm incredibly proud to share that my former undergraduate research student, Leonardo da Silva Tomadon, has successfully completed his master's in ecology. His hard work and dedication have culminated in a remarkable thesis published in @Hydrobiologia, titled 🔍"Incorporating aquatic biodiversity into sustainability index for hydrographic sub-basins: a multi-criteria stakeholder assessment approach in the Upper Paraná River."🔍 👥 Authors: Leonardo da Silva Tomadon, Dr. Edivando Vitor do Couto, Dayani Bailly, Jose Hilário Delconte Ferreira, Walter T. de Vries, and Angelo Antonio Agostinho 🎉 Special Shoutout to Leonardo da Silva Tomadon for his exceptional work and dedication to this project! 🔍 Article Highlights: 📣 Biodiversity in Sustainability: This paper bridges a crucial gap by integrating aquatic biodiversity into sustainability indexes, enriching traditional economic and social assessments. 👨🌾 Stakeholder-Driven Approach: Using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), the study incorporated diverse stakeholder perspectives for a balanced evaluation. 🗺 Hotspot Identification: By identifying regions with high and low ecological sustainability, the research provides valuable insights for targeted conservation efforts. 📚 Summary: This study introduces a new ecological sustainability index for hydrographic sub-basins (ESI-sb), utilizing 16 indicators across four dimensions: economic, social, eco-environmental, and negative environmental. The innovative inclusion of aquatic biodiversity data represents a significant advancement in sustainability assessments. Results show high sustainability values in the Serra do Mar, southern region, and Federal District, and lower values in the western Upper Paraná River basin. 🌍 This research is a major step forward in understanding and promoting ecological sustainability. Let's keep pushing the boundaries of sustainability science for a better future! 🌱 🔗 https://lnkd.in/edrwn35h #Research #Sustainability #Biodiversity #HydrographicBasins #EnvironmentalScience #Innovation #EcologicalAssessment #Congratulations

PHD DEFENCE. On 14 June 2024, Marcel Montanyès Solé, DTU Aqua will defend his PhD thesis on marine fish diversity patterns, drivers and underlying processes. The defence can be followed online or attended in person at DTU Lyngby Campus. The EU aims at protecting 30% of marine areas by 2030 to support biodiversity, which is declining faster than ever due to human activities. To make the right decisions about where to locate protected areas, it is necessary to have models that can predict the expected development of the ecosystems. During his PhD project, Marcel has investigated the factors influencing marine fish communities, using statistical models. Furthermore, he has explored whether these models can predict future biodiversity patterns, and he concludes that the model outputs provide valuable insights for management and conservation efforts. Learn more about the thesis and the defence on DTU Aqua’s website: https://lnkd.in/dCEdhwbw This post was originally written in English. Congrats to Amina Asiya Nchimbi for publishing the 3rd and final paper from her PhD with WIOMSA - Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association funded #MICROMARINE project. #Microplastic research is awash with studies that find #microplastics within fish species, but most do not relate this to environmental exposure levels. We wanted to ask whether the #microplastics found in the Emperor Thumbprint, an important ecological and economic species in East #Africa, reflect the occurrence, abundance, spatial variation and characteristics of #microplastics in the #environment (both #water and #sediment). In other words, could this species be a useful biomonitor for #plasticpollution. Read the paper to find out....
