At Traffic Signal waiting to turn Green, * I was in my Car & surrounded by roadside Vendors selling Pens, Tissue, Car vipers & Beggars & they were trying very hard to push for sale. * I was on my Bullet only one roadside vendor & few Beggars approached me. * I was on economical Bike only one Beggar approached me. * I was on my Bicycle no one approached me. * I was walking on my way, No one even noticed me. My Professional Learnings - Understand your Target Customers, Chances of conversion of sale from Person in Car is way higher than walking . - If you are Targeting stake holders be it Customer or Supplier Balancing your Surrounding is very Important, Going in Car to Supplier just to show off may give you Better Credit Limit but cost will be Higher prices on the other hand Customer may squeeze Prices & increase Credit Days because it appears you can afford. My Personal Learnings - If you are materialistic Person who buys stuff so that you can show off & get validation from Society , chances are you will not be satisfied because at the same Signal some one was standing with Higher version & most will be attracted towards that. - If you are materialistic Person but buys stuff for your own happiness & doesn't matter what others thinking you are on your way to Nirvana. - If you are like me MINIMALIST for whom Journey is important Vehicle will be depend on External things we are also on our way to achieve Nirvana.

I can understand if you feel that waiting until the last week of the year will provide you with the best opportunity to purchase a car at the lowest price. However, would you believe that now is the best time to purchase? Why, you ask? Dealerships have the inventory available right now. They want to get sales in motion prior to the holiday. They are willing to negotiate. Historically, after the holiday week, there are more buyers than cars! The best selection and the best pricing are available right now.

Having looked through my archives this morning to find a decent picture of me (not easy!) for my recent post (https://lnkd.in/eaCdyR_S) I stumbled across a video of me presenting at the AutoTraderSA dealer conference in Johannesburg in 2018 - the first of a three city road trip including Cape Town and Durban (across two visits to SA). This was arranged by Lee Manning and Tanesha Marie Austen of Armchair Marketing to whom I will be eternally greatful as it was a great few days. Thanks also goes to George Mienie and Angelique Lynch for being such great hosts - hope you're both keeping well! The reason I'm sharing the 2 minute(ish) snippet below is that this was in 2018 (pre the online retailers) and even then six years ago I'm talking about a blended online and offline car buying experience. This is something we engaged with at Imperial Cars a couple of years prior. Has my opinion to car buying changed in the past six years? No, in fact it's strengthened. Do I stand by my little dig at our sales teams? Yes, as even today dealers can do everything possible in relation to 'best marketing practice' to deliver great quality leads in volume but ultimately a fair porportion of their sales are reliant/dependent on people (sales teams) in this 'blended' car buying journey. If these sales teams are not following process (the minority not the majority) and being left to their own devices then inevitably performance will suffer. The world of car buying has most definately changed in the past six years. Have car buyers expectations changed? Absolutely! Their expectations have increased way beyond where they were even just six years ago. So ask yourself, as an automotive retailing business owner can you honestly say you are across every aspect of your business both operationally and culturally and secure in the knowledge that your are providing the car buyer the best car buying experience possible thereby maximising your performance?
