Somedays we get blindsided.
We react in ways we’ve worked so hard to avoid, despite practicing patience and mindfulness. It can feel frustrating, even defeating.
But here’s the truth: what happens next is where our power lies.
Rather than performing an “autopsy” on our reactions—overanalyzing every word or moment—it’s more freeing to acknowledge that we are human. Imperfect. Beautifully imperfect.
Letting your guard down doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means you’re living. The best thing we can do is show ourselves the same grace we offer to others.
Move forward with the lessons, not the guilt. 💙

Although this blog talks about grief, the takeaways in it are significant for other major stressors too. A key point is that resilience is normal, so while we can reach overwhelm, giving ourselves time to heal, maintaining our connections with others, talking or doing depending on what works for us, flexible thinking, and understanding that we’re wired to deal with adversity are all factors that promote resilience.
