Meet Jane Ullman. Jane loves three things about ninety-nine girlfriends: -Impact – ninety-nine girlfriends makes it easy to donate to local organizations that have deeply positive impacts on our community. I couldn't possibly identify and vet all the amazing organizations we support. Ninety-nine girlfriends does the heavy lifting and I get to tag along. Flexibility – If I want to participate in social events or educational sessions or reviewing grant applications, I can. But I don't have to. There's no pressure, but there's lots of opportunity. Women – The girlfriends are smart and engaging and have a wide range of experiences. In person or virtually, it's been delightful to meet women I would not otherwise have met through my regular professional and social channels. #MemberProfile

Active Listening is a thread that runs through so many powerful interactions. I'm working on a Respect in the Workplace Workshop- Active Listening is a component. Last Week in preparation for a Trust Session- Active Listening was a critical component and on and on. Active Listening is a Superpower that we all need to master. The subset of Active Listening that I work on constantly is: listening to understand and not respond! Whew ! Having that legal/employee relations lens where I'm formulating rebuttals in my head makes this one particularly difficult but i'm pleased to say I'm continually improving and I am learning so much by listening to understand. What parts of active listening are you working on? Michele, thanks for this reminder so pleased to serve with dynamic board members like you for Women On The Rise Intl,Inc. #activelistening #boardservice #leadership
Program and Project Manager who recovers spiraling projects, drives change, and improves processes. | Professional Development Strategist I Mental Health Awareness Advocate I WOTR Board Member l GovCon
As a board member for Women on the Rise International, Inc. (WOTR), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, active listening is a valuable superpower our board often flexes. At the same time, we drive change that empowers women to excel personally and professionally. Before we jump in with suggestions, we take time to understand the organization's current landscape. ☑ Listen to the community that we serve. ☑ Listen to fellow board members' views on data-guiding decisions. ☑ Listen to feedback from donors and stakeholders. The more we listen to each other, the more informed and impactful our decisions are for the WOTR community. Active listening isn't passive—it's the foundation of meaningful change. Let's chat in the comments. Whose input is often overlooked by board members, and why does it matter? #ActiveListening #NonprofitLeadership #BoardMemberTips

As National Community Planning Month almost comes to a close, we're thinking about how data can empower populations to better advocate and plan for themselves. Nonprofits generate and collect a lot of data. These data are produced as work gets done, and they often provide insights on specific communities, especially those who could benefit most from support. Yet, data are often produced without the knowledge, consent, or control of its subject. How can we realize a fair data future where datasets are unlocked for individuals and communities, not just investors and data-dealers? That's where philanthropy comes in. As the fuel for and major influencer of nonprofits, funders can help everyone benefit from community-centered data by using a simple tool already available to them: grant agreements. #GivingTuesday is an important day for nonprofits. It's one where they not only receive a lot of donations (which are needed to continue to do the work they set out to do) but also a way to highlight how people in the local community can participate in their mission beyond financial support. Today I choose to focus on unity — embracing what we can do and control and finding ways to come together for the greater good. I can't believe this event is just a week away! I am truly grateful to Tonya Major Gauff for nominating me and to Step Up for this honor. Receiving this award isn't about me — it's an opportunity to spotlight a mentorship nonprofit dedicated to guiding girls and those who identify with girlhood toward their unique visions of success. Through structured mentorship programs, focused support, and inspiring connections, Step Up helps girls define and achieve their unique visions of success. My commitment to living as a servant leader is driven by a passion for making a difference, not by political outcomes. Giving back has always been my way to foster unity and remind us of our power to create transformative change. I remain hopeful that together, we can inspire a new generation of young women to embody courage and hope. Even if you can't make it to the dinner, please consider making a donation. A $100 donation can make a significant impact by providing general programming support to increase equitable access to safe and brave mentorship environments where girls can thrive. Additionally, you can support in non-financial ways by becoming a mentor. Step Up believes in the transformative power of a single conversation. They’ve coined the term "flash mentoring" for their unique programs, which provide short-term opportunities to connect with mentors who share their experiences and offer skill-specific support. I'm confident that each of my connections here has the potential to engage in pivotal conversations that could guide a young girl's career or alter her trajectory. Nonprofits play a crucial role in addressing societal challenges, promoting civic engagement, and fostering a more equitable and sustainable world. Nonprofits offer several key benefits to society: Social Impact: Nonprofits often focus on addressing societal issues such as poverty, education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability. They contribute to social welfare and help improve the quality of life for many individuals and communities. Community Building: Nonprofits foster community engagement and participation. They bring people together who share common interests and goals, creating networks of support and collaboration. Innovation: Nonprofits can be hubs of innovation, testing new ideas and approaches to tackle complex problems. They often pioneer solutions that government or for-profit sectors may overlook. Advocacy and Awareness: Many nonprofits advocate for policy changes and raise awareness about important social issues. They amplify the voices of marginalized communities and advocate for social justice. #nonprofits #AIdigitalmarketing #creativo

Want to give back to society and connect with the causes that matter to you? Many of us do—the problem is not knowing where to start. Luckily, LinkedIn has come up with a solution! With LinkedIn’s new “Open to Volunteer” feature, users can now volunteer and contribute to the community with just a click. How it works: Select the "Volunteer" option from the "Open to" drop-down menu under your profile picture. Specify the causes you support, your skills, and preferences such as location and whether you'd like to volunteer in person or virtually. The feature makes it easier for charitable organisations to find volunteers like you. LinkedIn will also highlight relevant volunteer opportunities in your feed and send you alerts for opportunities that match your profile. It's all about facilitating smoother and quicker connections and helping you make a positive impact. This initiative also aligns with LinkedIn's mission of creating economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce. #LinkedInFeature #OpentoVolunteering #Connections #Volunteer #GlobalWorkforce
