After 19 years in Minneapolis, Michelle DeVaughn landed without the pulls and tugs of raising children and long-term volunteer commitments. It was a fresh slate: exciting, rudderless, and a little lonely. She has enjoyed exploring and learning all the wonders of Portland, Oregon and the PNW. But she's also ready to learn more about what can and is being done to address some of its issues, and how her donations and skills can be used along with others to help. It seems ninety-nine girlfriends is the perfect onramp for all the above. She still does some marketing research consulting work, but she's finding more time to hang with her grandsons, volunteer at an after-school program, and investigate ways her church can help relieve the housing shortage. Until now, tennis has been her way to meet friends of all ages across the metro area. She looks forward to meeting more through ninety-nine girlfriends! #MemberProfile

🌟 Summer is the perfect time to give back to our community, aligning our business practices with our values and fostering a sense of purpose. As Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.” Let's identify community needs and find ways our business can contribute, whether through donations, volunteer work, or hosting community events. Engaging in these activities not only benefits those around us but also brings fulfillment and purpose to our team. 🌞 If you're not on my email list and would like to receive my newsletters - which cover tips for business owners on Mind, Body, and Spirit, please let me know... send me a DM! #CommunityInvolvement #GiveBack #FaithInAction #MLKJrQuote

Running an advocacy organization is a demanding enough gig to begin with. Every President or Executive Director knows that feeling of brushing their teeth before bed and remember those website updates they planned to make that afternoon. (Cue the expletives) 😄 What if someone told you it doesn't need to be that hard? What if you could go through your whole year focusing on running the organization and your website would magically run in the background? You'd call them a liar. So would we. Running a website is not magic, but it is hard work. We've made it our work so that you can focus on what's important - making a difference for those living with rare conditions. We'll take the whole thing off of your plate, take direction regarding updates, and we'll regularly meet each month to talk strategy. Over time, your website will become an extra team member, soliciting donations, sharing your message, welcoming new families, inviting researchers, and attracting interest from future industry partners. We're in your corner for your community. Let us know when you're ready to talk!

● Help Support the Kids’ Chance Mission During Awareness Week 2024. ● Every Action Makes a Difference in These Kids’ Lives. When a worker gets injured on the job, it doesn’t just affect them — it affects their entire family, especially their kids. That’s why our 50 Kids’ Chance state organizations provide scholarships and support to the kids of workers who have been injured on the job. We want to ensure these kids can complete their education and go on to fulfilling and gainful careers. Since 1988, Kids’ Chance state organizations have awarded over 10,000 scholarships totaling over $36 million dollars. But we know there are more kids in need of assistance. Kids’ Chance Awareness Week is a time when every member of the Kids’ Chance community can support our mission, these families, and these kids. By coming together one week each year, we concentrate our efforts, which boosts our volume. This year, Kids’ Chance Awareness Week is November 18-22, 2024. Join our national movement for one day or for the whole week. Here’s what you can do to support our mission during Awareness Week: ● Make a donation to Kids’ Chance of Connecticut www.kidschancect.org and challenge your colleges to do the same. ● Spread the word about Kids’ Chance on social media using #KidsChanceofCT and #MoreMoneyforMoreKids

Happy Juneteenth! Today is a day for remembrance and celebration of how far the equal rights movement has come since 1865. But it’s also a day to recognize all the work there is left to do. Research has found that BIPOC-led organizations receive drastically fewer resources than white-led organizations. Only around 8% of funding goes to minority-led organizations and only 12% of all giving goes to Black-led organizations. 📌 Learn more about this important day and how you can make up some of the current gaps in nonprofit fundraising through community giving: https://lnkd.in/gAaE5WAt

Giving Tuesday is 7 days away. Here’s what it means when you choose to support WINS: 1️⃣ Basic Needs You’re the reason a mother finds warmth for her child during a Calgary winter. Your support transforms donations into confidence and dignity this Holiday and every day. 2️⃣ Emotional Support You’re a reminder that no one walks alone. Your generosity opens doors to safe spaces, one-on-one support, and the comfort of knowing someone cares deeply about their journey. 3️⃣ Employment Training You’re helping women rewrite their futures. Through training programs, you help us provide tools for independence, confidence, and a fresh start in life. Together, you’re building a community where everyone wins. #givingtuesdayyyc #winsyyc #myhopewins #hopefortheholidays

As Giving Tuesday approaches (collective deep breath for all my fellow fundraisers!), I want to give an early shout-out to PEPS. When I joined the team, many of you shared how your PEPS Group shaped your early parenthood journey. In my first month here, I've learned that program fees cover just 25% of the cost to run these groups. In the aftermath of the election, one piece of advice has been echoed: center yourself in community. Community can be hard to find, but PEPS makes it possible for over 4000 parents a year. If PEPS impacted you or you want to support parents, please consider giving: https://lnkd.in/gZa6fpgD
