India observes April 24 as National Panchayati Raj Day to mark enactment of 73rd Constitutional Amendment Act of 1992, which gave constitutional status to our Panchayati Raj System.
'Political Decentralization' accompanied by 'Economic Decentralization' is the best way for a diverse country like India to become a developed nation.
On National Panchayati Raj Day, let's celebrate the spirit of empowering local self-governance. Strong Panchayats lead to stronger communities. May these institutions continue to flourish and contribute to our nation's progress!

#GroundUpStories | “After the bhuj, when everyone is asleep at night, the boys get out of the bhelaghars and quietly replace small items such as slippers and utensils in the houses of the parties at conflict. The next morning is marked by chaos and laughter as everyone searches for their missing belongings. This process eventually forces the disputing parties to come together and initiate dialogue to resolve their differences.”
Magh Bihu in Assam’s Barpeta district is more than a harvest festival with bonfires and feasts; it also includes a tradition where young boys resolve community conflicts. Read this article by Kareena Bordoloi to learn more.

Reflections from My Recent Travels to Kashmir, KPK, and Punjab
Last week, I embarked on a journey through the beautiful regions of Kashmir, KPK, and Punjab. The natural beauty and rich culture of these areas are truly captivating. However, my travels also highlighted a sobering reality: the persistent struggles of the poor communities in these regions and our often troubling relationship with nature.
Despite the potential and charm of these areas, the socio-economic conditions for many remain unchanged. Moreover, I couldn't help but notice how human actions continue to impact the environment adversely. The pristine landscapes are marred by pollution and neglect, reminding us that we often humiliate nature instead of honoring and preserving it.
This experience was a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by underprivileged communities and the urgent need for sustainable development and environmental stewardship. Witnessing these conditions firsthand has deepened my commitment to contributing to initiatives that aim to improve the lives of those in need while also protecting our natural surroundings.
I urge my network to reflect on how we can all play a part in bettering the lives of underprivileged communities and respecting our environment. Whether through volunteering, donations, or simply raising awareness, every action counts. Let’s strive to create a future where humanity and nature coexist harmoniously.
Let's come together to make a difference.

From neglected ground to thriving playground!
Meet Husandeep Singh, a passionate Young Leader from Cohort 5, who embarked on a mission to revitalise the barren space at GPS Har-raipur in Block Goniana, Bathinda. For months, he tirelessly worked to address the dire condition of the school ground, overrun with grass and teeming with poisonous insects and animals.
Husandeep's journey wasn't solitary; he engaged with the Cluster Head Teacher (CHT), parents of the children, and the chairperson to rally support for the cause. Together, they held meetings, discussed solutions, and ultimately took action. The result? A remarkable transformation!
The once neglected ground underwent a dramatic facelift, with grass cleared, dangerous creatures removed, and the flooring refurbished. Now, children joyously frolic in the revitalised playground, exploring its newfound potential for various activities.
But the impact of the Young Leaders doesn't stop there. Recognising the importance of a clean environment for nourishment, they spearheaded efforts to tidy up the surroundings and establish a designated area for cooking midday meals. Today, the children enjoy their meals in a hygienic and pleasant setting, fostering a healthier learning environment.
The dedication of Young Leaders to community empowerment and sustainable change serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration. Their stories remind us that with determination and collective effort, we can turn challenges into opportunities and create lasting positive impact.
