This article brings me to the topic of surgery for tongue ties in school-aged kids. I am seeing so many kids being referred for a frenectomy for tongue ties that are either asymptomatic, not the cause of speech issues (e.g. phonological), or impact speech BUT speech therapy (as a first approach to avoid surgery) has not been tried. Families are being misinformed about tongue ties and what the latest research says. I will be using this as a starting point in helping families make informed decisions about getting the surgery.

Despite breastfeeding being one of the most important aspects of infant health, less than half of babies under 6 months old are exclusively breastfed. In honor of World Breastfeeding Week, which runs from August 1st to 7th, it’s crucial to support and encourage mothers who are capable of breastfeeding to feel comfortable and empowered to feed their children naturally. This year's theme is “Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All.” Breastfeeding is a great way to improve nutrition and strengthen the bond between mother and child.
