New Jersey Assembly Democratic Office’s Post

From Assembly State and Local Government Chair, Assemblyman Robert J. Karabinchak: On Thursday, during the Assembly State and Local Government meeting, we took a monumental step toward ensuring fairness and equity for all veterans. The passage of A3161 expands eligibility for veterans’ benefits by removing outdated requirements tied to specific service dates or locations. This landmark legislation affirms that all service matters and no sacrifice should go unrecognized. What This Means for Veterans: Expanded Benefits: More veterans will qualify for civil service preference, enhanced retirement benefits, and the ability to purchase additional military service credits. Fair Treatment for All: Whether in combat zones, on classified missions, or in critical support roles, all #veterans will now be treated equally under the law. Recognizing Modern Service: Today’s military has evolved. Every role is vital to defending our nation, and every contribution deserves equal recognition. A vet is a vet. Veterans have sacrificed for us—now it’s our turn to stand up for them. Let’s keep breaking down barriers and reaffirming our unwavering commitment to those who’ve served.
