I may not usually share personal milestone events on LinkedIn, but this one was extra special. Recently I celebrated my 25th Silver Wedding Anniversary with my better half, Rog. We took time to celebrate with various family and friends, including a number of our bridal party, and I am thankful to everyone who joined us in making the occasion so special and who indulged in reminiscing over shared memories and pictures from across the decades, and in recreating the croquembouche wedding “cake” tower, complete with spinning the webs of sugar.  Amid the fun, such a significant milestone also felt like a good moment to reflect on the power of long-term partnerships and the enduring value they bring - in both personal and professional settings! We don’t necessarily know how a partnership will evolve and grow when we set out. Life, and indeed my professional world of innovation and science, can take many twists and turns. But approaching the various opportunities and challenges with an open mind, a shared set of values and an overarching goal to bring positive impact to those around you, sets us up for the best possible chance of success.  Looking back to when we first met, after a university skiing trip with mutual friends, and the many years it took before we even got married (5 years – my fault!), this partnership commitment wasn’t ever frivolous and today I feel reaffirmed in my belief in the incredible strength that comes from being consistently "all-in" together for the journey, wherever it takes you. Of course, milestones are special, but it's about the day-to-day commitment to weathering storms, finding opportunities that reward both of you, embracing growth, making compromises, valuing the partnership and cherishing shared accomplishments that really counts. Similarly, building successful collaborations in the highly dynamic and innovative healthcare industry requires trust, dedication, and a collective vision to make a lasting impact. I am grateful for the lessons learned and the unwavering support I have received from Rog and my incredible colleagues at J&J Innovation. Exams cleared, some on re-attempts, The bustle in the classroom on submission days, Not just for end-of-semester assignments, But for completing lab workbooks each week. Begging the class rep to get extensions approved For vivas, midterms, and even final exams. The last-minute teaching spells from classmates, The buzz of voices, the nervousness on faces, Just before the final exam, Right in front of the department door. Competing among sections about which was better, Gossiping about each other—and the teachers too. Hustling for sessional marks, Finding ways to secure full marks before the exam, Frustrated teachers threatening consequences— Never did we take them seriously. The presentations we gave in class, The joy of spirited arguments, Presenting our philosophies, Discussing ideologies, New topics and ideas emerging, Moments spent in unknowing bliss. As I look back today, To my time at NED, I can’t help but feel blessed To have been a part of this university.
