🛫 When we fly, most of us have no idea what kind of plane we're on, we just get in and go. Aviation and transportation journalist Edward Russell visits No Show to tell Jeff Borman and Matt Brown what kinds of planes dominate the U.S. market, why they dominate the market, how long planes stay in circulation, and the process for buying, selling, and regulating big ol' jet airliners. Plus: America's best small airport, one thing he'd change about the check-in process, and the biggest change facing the airline industry. https://lnkd.in/di7UNfC4 #airlineindustry #traveljournalism #airtravel #transportation

Just in time for the holiday travel season, American Airlines is expanding its crackdown on what are known as “gate lice”— air travelers who cut the line ahead of their assigned boarding time. The Fort Worth-based carrier announced on Wednesday that it is rolling out new boarding-pass scanning technology to more than 100 U.S. airports following a successful month-long trial at Albuquerque International Sunport, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Tucson International Airport. The new technology works through gentle shaming. If a queue-jumper attempts to board a flight ahead of their assigned group, the software rejects the boarding pass and sounds an innocuous audible alert. Read more: https://trib.al/ZXjJRKN

Southwest S*cks & Scr*ws Customers, But Blue Skies Tampa Departure - IMRAN™ The shameful way Southwest Airlines $©®w€$ passengers where it has no major competitors turned me off from this airline I was loyal to for a quarter century. They literally gouge passengers going from Florida to Long Island, New York. If they charge $200 Tampa to expensive LaGuardia Airport NY, where Delta Air Lines offers great competing service, Southwest charges (for example) $350 to nearby Islip MacArthur Airport which is maybe just 10 extra nautical miles of flying — and has much lower landing costs. And you’re lucky if there’s one nonstop available without going through nightmare BWI airport. Why? Because there’s no actual Delta Airlines service to KISP Long Island for a decade or more. And Southwest, famous for flying danger Boeing 800 MAX planes, exploits people in such areas. From a frequent flier on Southwest Airlines for ~25 years, I’ve become someone who is only using it as a last resort to use up my 100,000 points. Beyond that, I consider it an airline that doesn’t “LUV” but sc*ws its passengers. This was a beautiful day to depart Tampa. The SWA flight cost about a quarter of my balance. Couple more “free” flights like this and I’ll be done. I will endeavor to never fly SWA with new purchased tickets again. © 2024 IMRAN™ #IMRAN #flying #Southwest #TPA #Tampa #airport #runway #aviation #aircraft #Boeing #CX #PriceGouging #SouthwestSucks

I'm back from an awesome vacation with several new post ideas swirling around, - BUT FIRST - What airline do you prefer? I usually fly Southwest or United, but lately they've both left me wanting. Forbes compiled a list that proclaims Alaska, Skywest, and Spirit (?!?) as the top 3 "best" airlines. Delta ranks number 1 for reliability, and after getting home about 4 hours late last night thanks to multiple United delays (we even got standby on an earlier flight that ended up getting delayed longer than our original, already delayed by 2 hours flight!), reliability and being on time are certainly my top considerations to switch. So, what does everyone fly? And how is their frequent flyer program? #airlines #ontimeflights #airlinereliability
