The #Virginia Clean Economy Act (VCEA) mandates top utilities in the Commonwealth to move to 100% #CleanEnergy by 2050. To fuel our economy and meet this goal, we must pursue a regional approach to #transmission planning, build new transmission lines, and upgrade the existing grid with grid-enhancing technologies (GETs). There’s a lot to do here, but the payoff is huge! Check this out. https://hubs.ly/Q02Blr760

If we want any hope to increase electric capacity to allow for the economy of the future and decarbonize our grid, we need to significantly expand the transmission system. But siting, permitting, approving and building new transmission is incredibly hard...... Luckily there are low-hanging fruits out there. We can reconductor existing lines and use other grid enhancing technologies to squeeze more juice from the existing system. There are perverse incentives in place that discourage utilities from taking this route, but we are finally taking steps to address this issue. Let's get 'er done! https://lnkd.in/djrTwcXY
