Hmm baguette. Un croissant hahaha. Hahaha un croissant. Welcome to the Connecting Europe Tour!
Join Fraser McDonald and Nat Cartier as they journey across Europe to explore the future
of networking and the incredible Gant network. Along the way they'll engage with industry
leaders and experts while also taking time to enjoy the vibrant cities and connect
with the locals. Want to know how tech
powers cutting-edge research? Or why Europe is investing
in these gamechanging networks? Nat and Fraser have got you covered!
With plenty of laughsalong the way. Join them as they uncover
the latest advancements in cyber security, networking,
artificial intelligence and more. So, we are on route to
meet with Sbastien Kher. TheCEO and founder of
the Nomios group. We really wantto know more about his role at Nomios and how
he manages to lead the entire company as CEO and founder of the Nomios group. Maybe we'll get
invited to one of these Nomios parties. They soundepic. I really want to get invited to one of those.
But before we can even think about getting into aNomios party. We try to beat Paris traffic in order
to meet up with Sbastien and do some sightseeingwhile we're at it. Oh my golly gosh, look at these
views, absolutely splendid, splendiferous! [Music] Connecting Europe tour, here is the CEO of
Nomios. Can you tell us more about the Nomios group? The core of our company is to serve
our customers with service in terms of cyber security and network this is the essential
of our business. What value do Nomios and Nokia bring to GANT Network? Well clearly, Nomios uses the
technologies of Nokia to serve GANT with a service, so together it's a good partnership to bring a lot
of value at the customer level being GANT. So thisis the connecting Europe tour. How is Nomios
contributing to a more secure and connectedEurope? Yeah, we just started a new tour with
a new investor so we aim to double organically in five years from now and we have to
add a substantial part in acquisition, sothat's the dream. Everybody is facing a huge
lack of people and we at Nomios have a unique chance. We have talented people, they have the
experience, the knowledge, the expertise to secure Europe. Sebastian, thank you very much for your time today. It was a privilege. Thank you very much! And on that French note we'll dive intotown, put on our quiz hats and find out
what people know about the GANT Network. We are here in Paris to find out what
the public know about the GANT Network. What is the length of the fiber cables for the
GANT Network? Obviously 50,000 km. Obviously. Obvious. Thank you so much. Can you tell us
what will be the new capacity of the GANT Network once it has been upgraded? You really don't know? It's 800 GB. Can you tell me once the upgrade is
complete, what will be the growth in capacity? It's double. No you're so stupid. It's triple, you're so
silly. Can you tell me how many nationalmembers are in the GANT Network? 37. Doyou know the length of the fiber cable for the GANTnetwork across Europe? Of course, it's 50,000 km. Can
you please tell me the upgraded capacity of the GANT routers? Yes, it's 800 gb per router port. We are here in Paris for
the Connecting Europe Tour. Guys, can you tell me how many countries
are members of the GANT network? 37 countries!!! And with that we end our
road trip in Paris, but no need to be sad. We fill up our stomach and
continue the road trip and make our way to our Flemish friends in
the oh so beautiful Belgium. Connecting Europe Tour. Welcome to Brussels! We are heading to the
headquarters of the European Union. The center forcollaboration and politics across all of Europe.
We're going to be interviewing Margrethe Vestager, who is the Executive Vice President of the
European commission and she is responsible for ensuring that Europe is fit for a digital age.
But then I think we'll get some fries, cuz Nat it seems to be pretty hungry. I'm in a vibe for some
fries right now. Belgian fries are incredibly famous, incredibly delicious. As we've heard. [Music] We are here
on the connecting Europe tour with the Executive Vice President of the European commission, Margrethe Vestager.
So you are responsible for the Europe fit for the digital age strategy. Can you tell us a
little bit more about that? Well it's a strategy so we're not there yet, because at the heart of
it is that we as human control technology. That technology is here to serve us for better public
services to enable us to fight climate change, for traffic without the cues for Better Health
Services. So the core is technology that serves human and because of that we need many more people
to be educated, basic skills, expertise. We need connectivity all over Europe for everybody to be
able to connect and of course we need to make sure that when AI is being used for instance
if you're want to go to university or you should have a mortgage or you want to sign up for a
insurance, that you're not being discriminated. The Horizon Europe project is also something
that you're working with. Can you tell us a little bit more about that too, please? So Horizon
Europe is a is research funding. So it's almost 100 billion euros. So a lot of money and this
complement what member states would do, what private businesses would do and researchers
they say we have this project this is what we want to do and then we can fund that very often
partially and then they get funding from other sources as well. So that we get something that
benefits all of us. How does the Horizon Project fit with the Europe fit for a digital age strategy?
I think that the Horizon Europe funding and a Europe becoming fit for the digital age
works really well together. Research in Europe translates into innovation. For instance on how
to use artificial intelligence in better health, in better being able to cure auto rare diseases.
Research is also how to make more and better ways of protecting your privacy. Which is also
being fit for digital, that you can protect your privacy. That all your data is just not flowing
wherever. And also for research it works the other way around that researchers need to be
able to recruit more people, who knows what to do how to deal with digital, how to develop it. So
you know to push for more skills, more expertise also makes our research programs better. The Gant
network is critical for Education and Research facilities across Europe. Why is it essential
that we have a network such as the Gant for our national research and education facilities
rather than relying on private companies to fulfill that need? First and foremost, because
people can connect and they can connect in a way where they feel comfortable that they are
safe, that their data safe, that their results are safe, because it has you know unique identifiers
so you know who's on the network, you know, who's here. You can have cloud services that is
needed to to upload the data that comes from your research and you know that it is safe. And I
think it's really important to have that kind of of research infrastructure to make that open
European Research Community know, that when they come together they come together in a way that is
secure, that has the necessary capacity and where people can actually identify themselves. Margrethe, thank
you so much for taking the time. It's been a real pleasure. It was such a pleasure that you came
by, you're most welcome another time. Thank you so much, we would love to be back. Excellent. After
an insightful and engaging interview. It's time to treat ourselves to a well-deserved break and
what better way to do that than with a delicious Belgian lunch. We are outside of beautiful friterieand I'm about to order some Belgian fries. We can't wait to eat them. What you think Fraser? I'm
so hungry, I've heard that the thing to get is mayonnaise on them, so that's a bit Rogue for me as
a seasoned ketchup user. Yeah I'm not the biggest mayonnaise fan, but if the fries are good, the
mayonnaise will only bring out their taste even more. [Music] What's the rundown, they
worth it? Mhm and the sauce, the sauce they recommended is so good the Andalouse.
Right let me get some of this inside me. Good sauce. Okay it's time to move on. We don't
have time for more french fries, because we're heading to Antwerp for an important meeting
with Nokia. Touchdown at the Nokia R&D office here in Antwerp. We can't wait to interview the
people here and we've also heard that there's a party happening on tonight with some live music.
So do you think we'll be able to get involved with some of the music? Hopefully, we can try
our hardest. I don't know if we practiced enough though. You think we cook.
No of course we will, it's not even a question. Behind us we have the timeline of Nokia. Can
you tell us more about the history of Nokia? Yeah absolutely, so Nokia is most of the time
very well known for the mobile phones, so with mobile phone is actually history. Then we
move to we reinvent ourselves continuously. So now we are a B2B, so business to business as a
technology innovation leader and we sell telecom infrastructure solutions to telecom operators,
to enterprise and public organisations. And the Gant network is strongly connected as one of
those projects, is that correct? Yes absolutely, so this is one of the public organisation. We
are actually, yeah providing our solutions, high capacity solutions too. Is technology like this
used in other places as well? Definitely, well this is just a test lab right, so this is just not
really commercial thing, but we have with Nokia IP we have over 1,000 service providers who are
using the equipment. Gant is one of them right. So the stuff that you see here. The box on the top,
that's actually being used in Gant Network. What is special about the Gant project? Plenty of
things right, but if I want to highlight one is the the capacity of the equipment and the networks. One
of the first project I work on with 800 Gige ports at at that high density and all across Europe
that's pretty unique. Can you tell us more about the collaboration between Nokia and Nomios? Yeah
we have a strategic go to market partnership between Nokia and Nomios. So in terms of
roles Nokia is providing the cutting edge network technology and Nomios is taking care for
the design, but also for the implementation, interconnecting all the research institutions in 40 European countries and also taking care for the support services. I also heard you
have fun events here. Tonight we've got an event can you tell me more about this event happening
tonight? yes, so we organise for our employees every quarter, what we call a colorful cafe.
I invite you to come on stage. I would love to. I hope, it would be an absolute honor for
me to perform tonight, but I have my hopes up, but you never know. Well all the more reason
to make that hope a reality. We head down to the venue, where the party is in full swing with one
quite peculiar face on stage already. Proud of you Nate, but for now
our adventure comes to a close, but remember this is just the beginning.
Next week there are more adventures to be had, until next time. Safe
travels and see you soon! [Music]

Halfway through, half to go!
Today, I am at Hinterland of Things in Bielefeld with my partner in crime, Moritz von Raczeck - we’re here for a day revolving around B2B Entrepreneurship and how different perspectives from Mittlestand, Start-ups, and investing, together can craft the future of innovation for Germany.
If this is your first time attending Hinterland of Things, I might have a few tips for you on how to make the most of the event:
- Leverage the app: HoT has built an efficient app for connecting to fellow attendees based on your profile, interests, and common goal - kudos to the organizer for crafting an optimal solution for scheduling meetings and planning the day.
- Set your expectations: Onboarding the event with a clear idea of what you want out of it not only helps you prioritize but also avoids getting overwhelmed with the many events, classes, and talks going on simultaneously.
- Let the stress go: I know that there exists a high pressure on making the most out of the day but Hinterland of Things is designed for easy and pleasant networking with like-minded people - there’s something for everyone, so have fun!
I am currently on my way to get some food before joining back for the exciting ride - hit me up if you have some cool food recommendations (or if you want to chat later over coffee)!

The summer break is when many of us plan our coming 12 months at work.
If you haven't yet decided how to invest time in your professional development, take a look at October's TOCICO Conference. This year in Europe.
This is always the first on my own list - even when I had no employer to pick up the bill! Many of the most impressive thinkers and change agents I have met in my career have come from attending TOCICO events like this. Where else can you mingle with CEOs who have used the simple-sounding practices of #TOC to run and improve $multi-billion companies? And who attend the whole conference?
The draft agenda has just been published, with a great range of sessions sharing ideas and experiences at improving #FLOW. From operations in large to small companies. From healthcare to thinking clearly about some of society's #GrandChallenges. From retail and distribution to venture capital investment. From managing projects to making companies stronger to saving companies from closure. From Sales and Operations Planning to the impact of AI.
The list goes on - check out the agenda here - https://lnkd.in/eYjqxNZJ. It is shaping up to be a great event.
You might remember TOC from when we read one of Eli Goldratt's books on a business course? This conference is your chance to see how organisations large and small have built on Goldratt's ideas and put them in practice.
#TOC - the practical application of theory to improve performance.
Why not join us in Germany 29 Sep-2Oct?

This picture is more than just a collection of badges—it’s a testament to a year filled with purpose, progress, and pride. For me, these badges are the modern-day equivalent of medals, much like the ones I used to collect during my sports years. This year, I had the honour of representing the tech ecosystems of CEE—and for the majority of the time, proudly carrying the torch for Bulgaria under the banner of #BreakingGrounds. 🇧🇬✨🏅
What made this year truly special was the collaboration with tech ecosystems across the region. We organized events and joined forces with innovators and leaders from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Greece, Cyprus, and of course, Bulgaria. Together, we showcased the strength and potential of CEE on the global stage.
🌍 Over 38,000 kilometres travelled—almost one full lap around the Earth’s equator—to attend some of the world’s biggest and most impactful conferences. From east to west, south to north, it’s been a year of building bridges, expanding networks, and showcasing the incredible talent of our region in Europe.
The theme of 2023 was clear: Building Momentum. Together with my colleagues at Storytelling Studio and The Recursive, I believe we succeeded. From connecting innovators to securing opportunities for #CEE startups, we’ve laid a strong foundation.
But 2024 brings a new challenge: Turning Tides. 🌊 It’s time to establish credibility and expand networks beyond #Europe. The journey continues, and I couldn’t be more excited about the road ahead.
Here’s to progress, partnerships, and breaking new grounds in 2024! 🚀

Public and Motivational Speaker | Personal Growth Consultant | Using 25 Years of Business Experience to Help Women Unlock Potential, Embrace Authenticity, and Create Impact
As I board my 4th flight ✈️ in the last 7 days, to return to berlin I am reflecting on the 4 workshops I have done in the last 7 days; especially the last one in #lisbon. I am thinking about my journey of “Preparation to Delivery to Reflection”.
First I want to start with sharing what an exciting experience it was to join Steven Dossou at the IRIS ECOSYSTEM Founder Hive Conference. I was invited to speak about something deeply close to my heart—authenticity and personal branding to underpin our goals as founders and entrepreneurs. ✨
Pre-Event: Before the event, I took the time to reflect on my own journey aligning my persona and purpose with the message I wanted to share. My focus was showing up intentionally, with a strong purpose that aligned with the audience’s interests … “How to succeed whilst retaining our purpose and gaining funding”
My goal? To #empower those in the room and to create a ripple effect that reaches beyond the room, empowering others to embrace their true selves on their founders journey.
Event Day: it was wonderful to meet so many motivated founders—each one passionate about their vision and ready to make a difference. Their energy and commitment added so much to the event and made the experience even more inspiring.
A big call out to the other speakers; it was wonderful to hear all the insights you shared-
Stuart Griffith, Bruno GuerreiroCintia ManoVera ShatskaTiago Vaz Serra and Gabriela Antunes.
Congratulations to the winners of the pitch Cara Henning and Vasilica Alina IurascuDenis Sharov: I’m excited to see how your journeys grow and succeed💪.
Post-Event: As I continue traveling and meeting incredible people, I’m reflecting on the conversations, feedback, and lessons learned. It’s these moments of exchange that fuel both personal and professional growth.
Speaking isn’t just about what happens on stage—it’s about the journey leading up to it and the growth that follows. Grateful for the experience, and looking forward to the next opportunity to share and learn.

👉 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲: Companies are increasingly focused on refining product-market fit, ICPs, and personas rather than prioritizing rapid scaling.
👉 𝗩𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁: Employees seek authenticity. Sharing what went well, what didn't and even what we've decided to postpone fosters trust.
