A definite model of cooperation across the academic landscape in a State to help in the countless number of grants available in post-disaster recovery for communities impacted by disasters. A brilliant way to harness the capacity at the universities to ensure no community is left behind in the long road to recovery.
I’m excited to announce the launch of The University of Alaska Grant Writing Network, a multi-tiered initiative to help Alaskans locate funding opportunities, write better grant proposals, and collaborate with each other in pursuit of funding. The project is the result of collaboration between faculty members at UAA, UAF, and UAS. The first phase of the Network is our website which offers a range of free and low-cost grant writing resources, from lists of funders to open grant opportunities to grant writing jobs and sample proposals, along with information on grant writing classes and workshops. We hope to add additional training and networking opportunities in the coming year. Join us for the Zoom launch party of the The University of Alaska Grant Writing Network on Oct 15, 2024 at 2:00pm AKST.

We’ve all been there… hearing about a funder that seems PERFECT for what we need funding for, only to discover those dreaded words on their website or outreach materials: “No unsolicited proposals.” You just know if they knew about you, they’d want to see your application! Don’t despair! Not all is lost! There are proven strategies to gain the interest of some funders who have posted that warning sign to stay off their proverbial lawn. I am super excited to present some of those strategies through my training session, "'No Unsolicited Proposals:' How to Get that Date to the Grant Prom," tomorrow FOR FREE, courtesy of Foundant Technologies! Interested in attending? There's still time to RSVP for the session, which will take place on Tuesday, November 19th from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm ET! This session is worth 1.5 CEUs for GPCs and CFREs. Regist here: https://lnkd.in/gHgeh4Dz You will learn: * What the motivation may be for a funder to choose not to accept open applications; * How to research a funder’s past giving and areas of interest so you can position your organization to be invited; * Techniques to cultivate relationships with funders who do not have open competitions; and * Marketing, outreach, and advocacy skills you can develop to raise your level of grant professionalism.

Unrestricted funding: the golden ticket of the grant world. The catch? It's often by invitation only. The secret sauce to receiving that coveted invite? **Your board.** Compile a list of folx who work at the funder's office. Do your board members know any of them? Ask them to check for 2nd-degree connections on LinkedIn. Help the board members resist the urge to make a pushy ask. Instead, guide them in nurturing those connections: like content, make helpful comments, ask great questions, have coffee. Invitations incoming!

Coming up to crunch time - the NACRA submission deadline is one week away! This conference is unlike others you have attended. The focus is on everyone developing their case research and teaching skills, with a constructive and collaborative approach. For this reason, the quote I've been telling everyone about their conference submissions is: "It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be complete." Perfection and excellence can come later - send the work you have. The whole point of this conference is to get feedback on your work, to make it better. Of course, the better shape the submission is in, the better the feedback you'll receive . . . but if you don't send it in at all, because you're worried it's not good enough, you'll get no feedback at all. Remember, there are two kinds of submissions for cases: - Full cases with instructor's manuals: your case is discussed at a roundtable with your peers, organized by area (e.g. marketing, strategy, accounting) over two mornings - Start-Up cases: submit an outline, and get feedback from not only other Start Up session participants but experienced case writers who act as mentors, in an afternoon session. Of course, you are still encouraged to attend the full case roundtables. Pedagogy papers are also accepted, with a dedicated session to the topic of teaching with cases. Send in your work! I want to see you in Orlando this October! https://lnkd.in/gpjzFwMp
