Need for enhanced cooperation on sustainable transport A new report commissioned by the Nordic Council of Ministers clarifies the urgency of improved transport cooperation in the Nordics. Putting innovation at the centre, the report calls for increased Nordic cooperation on research and technological advances, particularly in green mobility. Projects involving the development of electric aircraft and autonomous transport systems are highlighted as key components in reducing the Nordic region's carbon footprint. How can we put these recommendations into practice? Precisely the topics raised in the report will be addressed at Nordic Energy Research's Nordic Green Transport Forum on 7 May in Gothenburg, Sweden! By joining the forum, you will have the opportunity to explore innovative solutions to achieve sustainable transportation on land, at sea, and in the air, through mutual efforts across Nordic countries and sectors. Register for the Nordic Green Transport Forum at: https://lnkd.in/drKAkFFP The report was presented at the Nordic Council's Theme Session in Tórshavn in the beginning of April, and Gunnar Lindberg, Director of Nordic Mobility R&I AB and author of the report, points out that radical improvements in the transport sector are crucial for the vision of making the Nordic region the most sustainable and integrated region in the world by 2030. Under the motto “Energizing a Sustainable Industry” #Norway is the official partner country of HANNOVER MESSE 2024. Decarbonising traffic is a key element in Norway’s green transition. We are proud to contribute to this goal with our financing for Norwegian mobility infrastructure: KfW IPEX-Bank provided a NOK 1,148 million green loan for the Norwegian Bane NOR Eiendom for the extension and refurbishment of maintenance workshops. “Revolutionizing transportation for a greener tomorrow starts with strategic partnerships and investments”, says Belgin Rudack, CEO of KfW IPEX-Bank. “Through these partnerships, we aim to catalyze the shift towards cleaner, more efficient public transport systems, ultimately contributing to a greener CO2 neutral society and economy.” This investment will enable services for longer passenger trainsets with a length of 220+ meters and increase overall efficiency, contributing to sustainable public transport in Norway. Bane NOR Eiendom is a Norwegian state-owned company responsible for the development and management of supporting railway infrastructure such as railway stations and train maintenance facilities throughout Norway. 🚆 🌱 #Railway #Infrastructure #GreenFinance #FutureMobility #GreenLoan #Mobility #MobilityFinance #IPEX

On the eve of the European Industry Summit on next Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 April, we call on European government leaders to look beyond borders and find a solution to the deteriorating position of our #industry. The manufacturing industry in the triangle between the Flemish-Dutch ports and the German Ruhr is responsible for a large part of European production. International headquarters are now hesitating whether they still see a future in the #EU. We are very concerned about this; it is precisely industry that can make the difference in making our society more #sustainable. As ports, we therefore want to take the lead in improving the investment climate for industry in Europe so that the relevant companies want to invest in sustainability. As ports and industrial clusters, we adapt the infrastructure for tomorrow's raw materials and energy, such as hydrogen, so that even a sustainable industry can continue to cooperate efficiently. We also want to work more from a shared vision that allows us to make smarter use of scarce space in ports. We hope that industry will be given the opportunity to make Europe more sustainable. After all, it provides crucial support for our ports, along with #logistics and the #energy sectors. It is therefore important for European government leaders to merge climate and industry policies in their five-year plan, as recently highlighted by European business in "The Antwerp Declaration for a European Industrial Deal". Sustainable Road Transport Europe 2024 Earlier today, our Head of Environment Julien Le Signor, participated in Reuters Events' Sustainable Road Transport Europe 2024 in Amsterdam. During a keynote panel discussion on Smart Charging Solutions, Julien highlighted our extensive network, which includes nearly 10,000 low-emission vehicles for first and last mile deliveries. He also discussed key challenges such as limited space for on-site charger installations and the power capacity constraints at our hubs and depots. Julien ended on the need for fast, sustainable and reliable infrastructures to optimise electric vehicle charging across our network. #sustainability

Learn 3 facts about the Jutland Corridor 👇🍃 Along with the rest of the team in the project Grønn Jyllandskorridor, we work with the goal of making freight transport greener ⛴️🚂🚛 How so? By opening people's eyes to the major opportunities for greener transport via the Jutland Corridor: The transport network that connects Southern Norway, Western Sweden and Jutland with Central Europe. 🌍 The 3 facts: - The transport sector is responsible for approximately 25% of CO2 emission in the EU. - 1,600 kg of CO2 is saved when transporting a trailer from Hirtshals to Duisburg by train instead of by lorry. - Transport through the Jutland Corridor can become the fastest transport route from Norway and Denmark to the continent. So it's safe to say that the work with the Jutland Corridor can have a big impact on green transition of the transport sector.
