Milka Aho is the procurement manager at Nordic Lights. Together with her team, she takes care of the procurement process. Who are you? 👋 I’m Milka. I’m a naturally curious person who always wants to learn new stuff. I’m talkative, social, and interested in people. I think that’s a pretty good description of who I am on a personal level. What do you do at Nordic Lights? 💡 I’m in charge of procurement, supplier quality and incoming logistics. Why did you want to work in procurement? 📦 You never know what the day will bring, and you get to have an active role in the success and development of the business. There are many stakeholders in the procurement process, meaning that you need to work to find common solutions and put your social skills to the test. What’s the biggest challenge in your role? 🎯 To find that one solution which works for everyone involved. What’s most rewarding? 🏅 What I enjoy most is creating and nurturing relationships with different people. There is an immense richness in getting to hear different opinions on the same matter. It’s also very rewarding when we as a team figure out new ways to do things, and to see those results which we worked towards manifest themselves. What do you do outside of work? 🚴🏽♀️ I’m an endurance sport “freak”. Like triathlon – swimming, cycling, running. Ever since a kid I have been active in sports and competed. What has that taught you? ⛰️ It has given me a sense of determination and perseverance. If you fail - get back up and take another shot at it! What’s a piece of career advice you would give your younger self? 🥁 Don’t stress so much and trust your own competence. You don’t always have to one-up yourself, as long as you try your best. When did you last feel pride? 🪅 I’m really proud of what we have done during the last two years with my team. We can see that the plans and processes we made during this time have materialized in a very tangible way. Last question, what is the best movie ever? 📹 A movie which really affected me is “The Green Mile”. Thanks Milka, keep on rocking! 😎 #NordicLights #Procurement #People

🌟‘MEET THE TEAM’🌟 barox Kommunikation UK/EIRE/META is delighted to present our next ‘Meet the Team’ post, featuring Murat Bogazkoey, Head of Logistics. Murat heads up logistics at barox and often engages with clients regarding deliveries. ❓ Number of years at barox? In March 2025, it's 16 years. ❓ What do you enjoy about your job? What I enjoy most is the variety. No two days are the same. There are always new challenges, which keeps things exciting. In the end, it makes me happy when my team meets our customers' requirements and delivers the right materials to the right place at the right time. ❓ You are studying, tell us about it? I am pursuing further education to become a Procurement Manager, which I truly enjoy. During COVID, we learnt first-hand the significant impact of supply chain disruptions. It became clear that this wouldn’t be the last crisis, so I started thinking about how we could prepare by becoming more resilient. This motivated me to deepen my expertise in strategic procurement. I discovered that all companies face the same procurement challenges. My goal is to contribute to our success by applying the simple yet powerful "10 R's" of purchasing where I can make a direct impact. My focus is to ensure: 1 the right product 2 in the right quantity 3 in the right quality 4 at the right time 5 in the right place 6 at the right price/cost 7 from the right supplier 8 to the right customer 9 with the right information 10 and in a sustainable manner is always available. ❓ What are your ‘life goals’? Professionally, I aim to advance digitalization and sustainability in my work while applying my procurement knowledge to contribute to the company's success. Personally, my goal is to dedicate more time to family and restore a healthy work-life balance. In terms of sports, I aim to complete the Alpenbrevet Platin Tour again in 2025. Another challenge will be to cycle all the way from South Germany to Barcelona (about 1150K). I would also like to run a marathon someday. There are so many other things I still want to achieve 😊 My main goal is to stay healthy so that I can accomplish all the goals I’ve mentioned. ❓Tell us a surprising or fun fact about you? Once I had a call from a customer from Austria who spoke very quickly in dialect. At first, I thought it was French and tried to explain with a few words in French, saying "Je suis désolé. Je ne parle pas bien français. Un moment, s'il vous plaît" that I didn’t understand him, before transferring him to my colleague. After the call, my colleague explained that the caller was actually speaking German, just in an Austrian dialect. It was embarrassing, but luckily the customer was helped, and we had a good laugh about it afterward. ❓What's your favourite way to relax? Walks along the Rhine, attending concerts, as well as beach vacations or city trips, which all the family enjoys. Thank you Murat for taking part in ‘Meet the Team’! 🎉 #barox #switchesforvideo #meettheteam

The Most Challenging Project in My Logistics Career. "Boss, I want to ask, looking back at all the difficult and complicated projects in the logistics field you've been through, which one is the most difficult?" This question from my sales team member caught me off guard as we were driving back from a customer visit. I took a moment to ponder, considering the query for over 30 seconds. During those 30 seconds, my mind raced through the various challenging projects I had encountered. I thought about the factory moving project I led at Sinovitrans, where I navigated complex logistics to ensure a seamless transition. The first warehouse winning project at Maersk Vietnam came to mind, a testament to my ability to secure strategic partnerships. I also recalled the initial bulk vessel project at Circle Logistics, which required meticulous planning and execution to deliver successful outcomes. Each of these projects presented unique challenges, from handling numerous issues to engaging with multiple stakeholders. While I felt pressure and faced difficulties throughout these experiences, I realized that I had successfully conquered them and gained valuable logistics knowledge that would aid me in future endeavors. The thrill of learning, adapting, and conquering new challenges is what drives me to continuously push the boundaries of what is possible in the logistics industry. Ultimately, after careful consideration, I told him that: “the most challenging project for me is always, the next one.” Yes, the most challenging project in my logistics career is always the next one. This perspective fuels my drive for continuous improvement and motivates me to seek out new opportunities for learning and growth. The excitement of tackling new challenges is what inspires me to elevate my capabilities and achieve greater heights in my career. #selfgrowth #selfmotivation #selfchallenge

Today marks exactly 7 years since I started my career in logistics at AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG! Over this time, I’ve faced numerous challenges, gained invaluable experience, was awarded among the best employees to participate in Swiss Holidays ⛷️ and grown into the position of Tender Management Director. To celebrate this milestone, I’d like to share 7 interesting facts about my journey and some key observations: 1) I earned my first $100 at a small logistics company back in my student days. Fun fact: I had to buy a book with the unfamiliar word “Logistics” on the cover and figure it out in three days. They paid me for interpreting services. I guess it was a sign! 😊 2) AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG has been, and still is, the most amazing place where your professional qualities are important, where you are not afraid to make mistakes and where activity is valued. 3) My biggest asset is my team. I’m proud of how we’ve built an efficient workflow and maintained team spirit throughout the ups and downs. Teamwork is the cornerstone of our success! 💪 4) The secret of a successful tender is simple - coordinated work of sales, operations and tender department. When everyone is looking in the same direction, victory is inevitable. 5) Tender specialists are the unsung heroes. It happens in all the companies. We’re the first ones called when there’s a problem but the last to get a "thank you". C'est la vie. 😊 Shout out to all my fellow tenderers and all RFI&RFQ professionals - you are fantastic! 6) Winning a tender is challenging, but organizing one is equally tough. Our clients can trust that we will thoroughly review their requirements, ask clarifying questions, and meet all technical specifications. 7) Special thanks to clients who save their line IDs in tender files and do not change them between rounds. Customers who keep the same IDs year after year are forever in my heart! ❤️ There's still so much more exciting work ahead 💫 I keep moving forward!
