European Mobility Week 2024 is underway! 16-22 September is dedicated to promoting sustainable mobility in our cities. It is a great opportunity to reflect on how we can improve urban mobility, not only in large cities but also in smaller and intermediate-sized cities. This is also a focus of the Nordic Road Association's (NVF) Urban Transport and Transport Planning working group, which aims to share experiences and best practices for developing sustainable mobility strategies in urban areas. The group works to develop tools and methods that can be utilized to create strategic and sustainable mobility solutions for cities. For the period 2024–2028, NVF’s activities are framed under the overarching theme of “Climate & Environment.” All working groups are aligned with this key theme, and collaboration between groups strengthens the overall development of sustainable mobility. As part of European Mobility Week, don’t forget to participate in Car-Free Day on September 22nd and join the movement towards cleaner, more sustainable urban spaces. #EuropeanMobilityWeek #SustainableMobility #CarFreeDay #NVF #UrbanTransport #ClimateAndEnvironment #MobilityStrategy #NordicCooperation

🛣 This week is European Mobility Week. European Mobility week is the European Commission’s flagship awareness-raising campaign on sustainable urban mobility. This year’s theme is all about shared public spaces, ones where people, transport and activities all have their own space to develop social equity, improved road safety, less noise and air pollution and a better quality of life. 🌲 Here at TII we recognise that our urban transport environments are changing, and that the space reallocation associated with this shift has significant potential to create places that are more equitable, functional, valuable, and beautiful. We have been involved in many safety schemes across Ireland that look at the reallocation of space to create multi functioning streets through developing social spaces to sit and chat, using trees to reduce temperature, prevent flooding and calm traffic, and space to engage in active travel. #europeanmobilityweek #carfreeday #urbanmobility #Luas #Lightrail #SustainableMobility #NR2040

Fascinating look at how sustainable global transport can be. Institute for Transportation and Development Policy debuted its first annual Atlas of Sustainable City Transport, an interactive map that ranks more than 1000 cities on nine metrics that measure factors such as percentage of residents safe from highways, proximity to transportation amenities, and rapid transport with surprising results. Where does your city rank? Bloomberg https://bloom.bg/3zzmYZr #sustainability #transportation #mobility

🔺Sustainable urban mobility is one of the main challenges facing cities in the EU and a key concern for many European citizens, as road transport is one of the primary sources of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in urban areas. The cost of traffic congestion to society is estimated at €270 billion annually. In this context, Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) are a key priority for the European Union, as they are considered capable of addressing the challenges and problems of transport planning in urban areas in an efficient and sustainable manner. They aim to create a sustainable urban transport and mobility system that ensures accessibility to jobs and services for all, improves the protection and safety of commuters, reduces pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and energy consumption, increases the efficiency and economic performance of transporting people and goods, and enhances the attractiveness and quality of the urban environment. 🏡Consortis, committed to the vision of sustainable urban development, continues to support local authorities in the country through the implementation of numerous SUMPs, in their efforts to create spaces with fewer cars and traffic. 🚴The European Mobility Week (EMW) has been established since 2002 as the most important institution at the European level for promoting sustainable mobility standards. It is organized annually from September 16 to 22, with hundreds of municipalities from across Europe participating. The highlight of the events is "Car-Free Day" on September 22, during which special urban zones are designated where private car traffic is prohibited, giving space to pedestrians, cyclists, scooters, and public transport. 🏞️This year's theme for EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK is "Shared Public Space." Creating shared public spaces offers numerous benefits to society. When people, different modes of transport, and various activities have their own space, it leads to greater social equity, improved road safety, reduced noise and air pollution, and an overall enhanced quality of life. Join us in shaping the future! Read the article: https://lnkd.in/dqEie9aD #Consortis #EuropeanMobilityWeek #SustainableUrbanMobility #SharedPublicSpace
