I am honored to share that my article, “Sustainable Utilization of Posidonia Oceanica: The Case of Santa Pola, Spain”, developed during my assignment as a United Nations Volunteer, has been published. The article has been prepared as part of the report "Towards Circular: Analysis of the Coastal Areas of Greece, Italy and Spain" by Think Tank AlterContacts, an NGO in Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC. The report, launched during the European Sustainable Development Week 2024, highlights key pathways to a circular economy, focusing on sustainable practices in Mediterranean coastal regions. #17 Sustainable Development Goal to transform our World Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is universal and calls for action by all countries – developed and developing – to ensure no one is left behind. It requires partnerships between governments, the private sector, and civil society. The Sustainable Development Goals can only be realized with a strong commitment to global partnership and cooperation. To be successful, everyone will need to mobilize both existing and additional resources, and developed countries will need to fulfill their official development assistance commitments.

📚 New publication alert! 📚 "A European agenda to navigate uncertain times: How to steer the EU towards wellbeing for all, now and in the future" This paper comes at a time of uncertainty, including geopolitical tensions, rising living costs, inflation, increasing inequalities, climate and biodiversity crises, polarisation, and an aging society. These factors contribute to widespread anxiety about the future, especially among younger generations. The contribution of economic growth to wellbeing is decreasing and the benefits of growth are not being shared equitably. Recognising that European companies are aware of the need for change, this publication emphasises the urgency of developing a consistent long-term vision for the EU. Indeed, the policy agenda of the new European Commission will need to address these complex challenges if it aims to create a sustainable and equitable future for all. In light of this, this new advocacy paper, co-authored by our MERGE sibling projects SPES Sustainability Performances, Evidence & Scenarios, ToBe Research, WISE Horizons and WISER aims to help the new European Commission in this task. Luckily, there is no need to start from scratch: The Commission can build on an existing body of governance, measurement frameworks, policies, legislation and good practices in the EU and from around the world. 🌎 🔎 Read more about how to steer the EU towards wellbeing, now and in the future here: https://bit.ly/3xV5rdz #WellbeingEconomy #EuropeanGovernance #EUPolicy #FutureGenerations #HorizonEurope #SustainableGrowth #PolicyAgenda

This year's UN General Assembly kicks off next week in New York! *What is the UNGA? The 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly kicks off when Heads of State and Government gather at UN Headquarters in New York on 22-23 September 2024. It's for international cooperation to address pressing challenges such as climate change, poverty and inequality, while also tackling the impacts of ongoing conflicts and global health crises. *What's the goal of the summit? World leaders will gather to engage in the annual high-level General Debate under the theme, "Leaving no one behind: acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development and human dignity for present and future generations”. *What are the SDGs? The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations members in 2015, created 17 world Sustainable Development Goals. Sustainable development calls for concerted efforts towards building an inclusive, sustainable and resilient future for people and planet. *How's Australia doing? I love this quick snapshot of indicators for the 17 goals; we're in the 10th year of working on these global goals with just 5 years to go: https://lnkd.in/ef2gux2w
