Every July, we raise awareness about sarcoma and bone cancer. Sarcoma is a rare cancer affecting soft tissues, while bone cancer targets the bones. Both have a significant impact on individuals and families, making awareness crucial. 🎗️ Sarcoma and bone cancer can affect all ages, including children. Recognizing symptoms like persistent pain, swelling, lumps, fractures with minimal trauma, and unexplained weight loss is vital. If you or someone you know has these symptoms, consult a healthcare professional. Supporting those affected is key. A little bit more than a year ago I joined NMDP as a Bilingual Donor Engagement Specialist. My goal is to connect donors that are part of the registry with patients with cancer once they match. I’m incredibly proud to share that 29 people I’ve spoken with have donated bone marrow or stem cells, offering children and adults battling blood cancer a second chance at life. Their selfless actions bring renewed hope to families and highlight the incredible difference we can make when we choose to help others in their most critical moments. Be the Lifeline Someone Needs: Donate to Save Lives Every three minutes, someone is diagnosed with blood cancer, and for many, a bone marrow transplant is their only hope. Your generous donation can make that lifesaving connection happen. Here’s how your gift can make a direct impact: $150 helps add one potential donor to the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) Registry, giving patients a fighting chance. $200 provides one month of transportation for a patient to and from their transplant clinic. $500 secures a week of temporary housing for patients and their families during transplant recovery. $2,000 covers a Transplant Recovery Grant, easing financial burdens for families after the procedure.
