The NORAD Santa Tracker is a fantastic example of public relations - rather than marketing. Are small children and their parents direct users of the North American Aerospace Defense Command ? No! Is NORAD selling anything of direct, trackable use to them? No! But by taking the opportunity that fell in their laps all those years ago (look up the story) NORAD is able to reach who knows how many people each year with their charming- and also educational- Santa Tracker. It’s a perfect example of creating a winning PR/comms campaign that does not have a direct “sales” result for them, but does create immense goodwill. https://lnkd.in/esJQR6w7
