Newcastle City Council are one of 20 local authority areas who are working with Alcohol Change UK to develop a national guidance document on appropriate accommodation options for vulnerable and dependent drinkers that services find difficult to engage into mainstream treatment. To support this work they’ve created a survey which will be of interest to people who encounter alcohol-dependent drinkers in their work. This could include #DrugAndAlcohol workers practitioners or managers in #AdultSocialCare, #MentalHealthServices, #Housing and #Homelessness, primary and secondary #Healthcare, #Police, #DomesticAbuse, #Probation and #CommunitySafety. Here’s a link to the survey so you can get your views heard to help inform this much needed piece of work (and *please share* with any colleagues you think might want to inform this work!) https://lnkd.in/eZvDFJUD

NCRA Convenes Technical Planning Meeting On Proposed By-Laws For CRVS In Communities. Headquarters, King Harman Road As a way of taking Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) and Identity Management System in Sierra Leone to communities, the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) has convened a Technical Planning meeting with key stakeholders involved in Local Government Administration on Proposed by-laws at community level to enhance the efficiency of CRVS in Sierra Leone. This meeting was precipitated by the NCRA Report on Vital Statistics 2022. The report shows the need for engagement with key actors in local governance to strengthen Civil registration, especially Births and Deaths registration in rural communities across the country. According to Director General of the NCRA, by-laws, once developed in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, will help the NCRA provide more data on the population of Sierra Leone covering the occurrence and characteristics of Vital Events occurring in the communities in Sierra Leone in real time. In attendance are Paramount Chiefs, Tribal Heads, and Representatives from the MoLGCA, MoH, MoSW, Law Officer's Department, SLP, Inter-Religious Council of Sierra Leone, FCC, Local Councils, SLRSA, Sierra Leone Driver’s Union and Bike Rider's Association. #MinistryofEnvironmentForestandClimateChange #ministeroftechonology #ministerofgenderaffairs #ministerofenvironmentandclimatechange #ministerofcommunication #MinisterOfForeignAffairs #WorldBank #ecowas #scca #fcc #britishhighcommission https://lnkd.in/dWpaHWhe

As we head towards Anzac Day on 25 April, it’s important to pay extra attention on the roads. With the public holiday falling on a Thursday this year, many people are planning to turn the holiday into a four-day long weekend. In an effort to promote safe driving and keep the community safe, double demerit points will be in place from Wednesday 24 April to Sunday 28 April. At Jameson Law, we understand that sometimes mistakes happen. Should you find yourself in need of legal guidance regarding traffic offences or any road-related concerns, our team is here to support you. Drive safely, avoid double demerit points, and help keep this Anzac Day period incident-free.

When is Assisted Living an option? One way to know is when living at home becomes unsafe. For instance, a senior who frequently falls in the home despite having mobility aids like a rollator or a walker, may need to go into assisted living. Another instance is despite having home care, a senior needs more help than the maximum hours a home care agency can give. So, issues of safety and/or an increase of care needs are indicators of when a senior needs to transition into assisted living.
