However, they also deliver competent medical care in medical situations, which is still needed When it comes to birth, we can do better ourselves. We are already doing better. If you want something better than what’s on the menu today, build a new restaurant, get a new chef, bring in some great food, call your friends, and embrace life in all its glorious sovereignty. Preparing for a home birth is more than gathering supplies—it’s about creating a supportive, comfortable environment where you feel empowered to trust your body. Hear some practical tips and advice from a midwife on preparing to give birth at home.

How can you know if it is a birth pause? We can't. It becomes obvious as we wait without intervening. Is baby ok? Is Mama ok? Get some rest. Stay hydrated. Make sure you are nourished body and soul. <3 Talk with your doula and/or homebirth midwife. Many are familiar with the pause and can provide reassurance.

🌹You cannot grow flowers in the attic. 🥼Please understand that your choice of the care provider also frequently determines the birth setting. This is why it is imperative to know the care provider's practicing "privileges" to the facility they are recommending. During the tour of the facility ( i hope you don't skip this), pay attention to the hospital language, decor, and room setting. Stay vigilant because the attitude of staff should mirror the culture and view of birth as normal. Why, you ask?? Well, that's because the hospital may have decor as Window dressing, disguising the true operations, the equipment, and instruments that will be used in full "force" during the birthing. ◇ Are the rooms filled with IVs, monitors, and other equipment? Don't assume that the childbirth education provided by the hospital even using words like "gentle" will follow the same procedure and caring 😉 ( it may be "routine" procedure during birthing) ☆ What about those reviews or references? ☆Do the staff, friends and family who received care before share the facility message. ☆ Do they endorse the 'belief of normal birth'? Feel free to tour more than one hospital. Today is World Prematurity Day – an opportunity to raise awareness of the impact premature birth has on babies and their families. Premature birth can be a profoundly challenging experience, often requiring babies to spend weeks or even months in neonatal care. And sadly sometimes resulting in loss. The emotional, physical and practical toll on families is immense. Organisations like Bliss and Tommy's play a vital role in providing valuable support, and driving research to support improvements. The Maternity Incentive Scheme aims to improve perinatal care and reduce preterm births by prioritising enhanced safety practices and team-wide learning, and the scheme supports making childbirth safer for everyone.
