The Arctic is warming three times faster than the rest of the world. This rapid transformation is affecting the cryosphere - our planet’s frozen areas like glaciers, sea ice, and permafrost. The Arctic Council has interviewed Christian Hauglie-Hanssen to explore how satellite data can improve our insights into climate change and support adaptation and resilience efforts 🛰️

Joint Satellite Mission to Track Greenland Ice Sheet Changes Scientists have successfully tracked the changes in the Greenland Ice Sheet’s thickness using data from both ESA’s CryoSat-2 and NASA’s ICESat-2 satellites. These observations are vital as the melting ice sheet, driven by global warming, contributes to rising sea levels and disrupts weather patterns worldwide. Understanding these changes is crucial for adapting to and mitigating the effects of climate change. https://lnkd.in/gkx76Txy

Well seems besides ocean temperatures warming because of underwater volcanos now doesn’t Sun with added effects also warm the atmosphere? Yet no one hypothesizes about these science anomalies causing global warming. Truth is global warming is probably a bundle of causes that may be part of an earth cycle no one has any definitive proof of.

NEWS: Scientists issue warning as plan to refreeze the Arctic begins to show promising results. People have raised their concerts about the controversial plan. "Over recent decades, the Arctic has warmed as a result of #climatechange and it's had devastating affects on the area - and the rest of the world. From more draughts and more severe storms, to rising sea levels and an increase in some diseases such as malaria, global warming is wreaking havoc on our planet. The #Arctic is one of the worst hit areas, with its ice shrinking by 12.2 percent per decade, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration reports. As to how they've been doing this, UK start-up Real Ice has been drilling holes through the sea ice to pump out the #seawater below and freeze it on the surface, CNN explained. The group started tests in #CambridgeBay in Canada in January this year and following tests conducted last month, it's been found that four inches of ice has been formed so far. It's still 'early days' though, says Shaun Fitzgerald, director of the Centre for Climate Repair at the University of Cambridge. "I am optimistic, but we need more experiments and more data," he added. As per Real Ice's website, the water that's being pumped onto the ice is 'delivered by an underwater drone with a hydrogen fuel cell energy system'. These drones then melt holes in the ice from below using heated drills." Read more: https://lnkd.in/e5J_j4mN

Global warming is changing the Earth’s oceans and atmosphere. As temperatures rise, some parts of the ocean witness an increase in microscopic organisms, leading to a noticeable greening effect. Meanwhile, dust storms in one region can impact the air quality in distant areas. Additionally, smoke from extreme wildfires can engulf wide areas for an extended time, causing changes to the atmosphere. #climateadaptation #climatechange #NASA #PACE #climatestudy https://lnkd.in/gMET5Chp

WHY SHOULD WE BELIEVE IN COPERNICUS EU CLIMATE THREATS - WHEN THEIR SATELLITES NOTORIOUSLY SHOW HIGHER TEMPERATURES THAN THE WORLDS BIGGEST SATELLITE NETWORK? NASA and USA have a total dominating (over 8,000!) satellite coverage fleet over the planet. Among them, 5 special satellites in the JPSS program that cover polar-to-polar temperature readings over sea and land. And also is integrated by balloons and boyes at sea. EU (Copernicus) have 2 satellites, covering mostly land areas. University of Alabama and UAH have been in operation since 1979. Copernicus since 2014. And Copernicus drive an aggressive AGW agenda, where average temperature is at least 0,2°C higher than UAH in every monthly report. Who would you trust more? And still the IPCC and climate activists try to undermine the UAH. Probably because Prof, John Christy and Dr Roy Spencer in several congress presentations and on drroyspencer.com have criticized the climate models that shows exaggerating warming over the years. Why? Isn't actual readings the only basis for science? By the way - yesterday Copernicus released the news that the planet in December was warmer than ever, and for at least more than 100,000 years. I am sure there is no satellite data to confirm it...

📣 Copernicus Global Climate Highlights 2024 are out 📣 Copernicus ECMWF just published its annual Global Climate Highlights report, which provides an early, concise analysis of the past year's climate. Key messages: 💡 2024 is confirmed as the hottest year on record with a global average temperature of 15.10°C, overtaking 2023, the previous warmest year, by 0.12°C. 2024 was the warmest for all continents, except Antarctica and Australasia. 💡2024 is 1.60°C above an estimate of the pre-industrial level, making it the first calendar year to exceed the 1.5°C limit. 💡The area affected by at least ‘strong heat stress’ reached a new record maximum on 10 July, when around 44% of the globe was affected by ‘strong’ to ‘extreme heat stress’. 💡2024 was the year with the highest atmospheric water vapour content on record. As atmospheric water vapour levels increase, heavy rainfall events will become more intense. 💡In 2024 Antarctic sea ice extent reached record or near-record low values for the second year in a row. 💡In 2024, greenhouse gases saw their highest annual levels ever recorded in the atmosphere. This year, different organisations involved in global climate monitoring – Copernicus ECMWF, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, the Met Office, Berkeley Earth and the World Meteorological Organization - have for the first time made a concerted effort to coordinate the release of their data, highlighting the exceptional conditions experienced during 2024. ⏰ Such exceptional conditions highlight the urgency to act. As explained by our Climate Services Lead Rozemien De Troch to De Tijd "The 1.5-degree limit was not chosen at random. Beyond this limit, there are several uncertainties and irreversible processes which can be set in motion, with dire consequences for us as humanity. The occurrence of extreme weather phenomena increases, but we also risk crossing tipping points, such as the Amazon forest dying off, the Gulf Stream in the Atlantic shutting down or the Greenland ice sheet melting away." 📄 Read the highlights: https://lnkd.in/d-QS3mTU 📄Read Rozemien's reaction to the Global Climate Highlights on De Tijd: https://lnkd.in/ed93xbHN

The political ruling classes of nearly every major country on earth just wanna fight wars. The citizens of those countries are either too brainwashed or too feckless or too distracted to do anything serious to stop this widespread global madness The financial overlords can't help but follow capitalism's logic to its final conclusion and continue funding fossil fuel companies. All to maintain the naive consumerist hedonistic lifestyle that is now a global addiction The tech overlords are chasing a pipedream with GenAI, building more and more datacenters that are increasing emissions while hoodwinking people to believe that somehow through AI, we can solve climate. A promissory note that's in the same category as those who believe that God promised Noah that there'd never be a major natural catastrophe because of the mythical biblical flood. Meanwhile, those studying the phenomena are sounding alarms in the vein of- "We are going to get to 1.5 degrees a little faster than we anticipated even four years ago. I think this year it’s about 50-50 whether we will reach 1.5 degrees in the [NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies] temperature record.”
