In England alone, there are over 14,000 on-call firefighters. They often work another job, with commitment to respond to an agreed schedule of emergencies. For you as an employer, you may one day interview a candidate who is an on-call firefighter, or have an existing member of staff interested in becoming one. Would you see it as a bonus? A hassle? Or not have a clue how to respond? Here is a quick guide from HR, looking at how the arrangement works, the commitments and the benefits that it may bring to you: https://lnkd.in/eTZGnZxs #hr #employment #ONCALL #firefighters #employees #humanresources

Feeling the mid-week slump? Here's a little boost for you. 👇 In the heart of London's bustling streets, a fire alarm engineer once faced a dilemma. On a critical job, he discovered an elderly resident living alone, struggling with mobility, and unable to escape in case of an emergency. Instead of just finishing his work and moving on, he took it upon himself to go the extra mile. He worked with the building's management and local services to ensure a tailored evacuation plan was in place for her. That's not just competence; it's compassion in action. It's stories like these that remind us of the impact individuals in the fire and security industry can have. At FS Recruiter, we celebrate such unsung heroes who not only ensure safety systems are up to scratch but also look out for the most vulnerable in our communities. Do you have similar experiences or stories to share? Drop a comment and let's spread some positivity and encouragement! 🌟 And if you're seeking a new opportunity where your skills can make a real difference, check out our website - fsrecruity.com. Let's match your expertise with a role that allows you to leave a positive mark. #FireSafety #CommunityHeroes #EngineeringExcellence

The Job Demands Analysis (JDA) is performed at the worksite, documenting the essential tasks of the employment position. The purpose of the assessment is to analyze and describe the physical, sensory, cognitive, behavioural, and psychosocial demands associated with the work tasks. The assessment includes an interview with the employer/team lead/supervisor, observation of the tasks being performed, and measurement of the job (e.g., frequency of tasks, time required to perform each task, etc.) and the tools/equipment/materials used. Photographs are included to illustrate the work environment in a reader-friendly written report. Reasonable Accommodation is any change to the application or hiring process, to the job, to the way the job is done, or to the work environment that allows a person with a disability who is qualified for the job to perform the essential functions of that job and enjoy equal employment opportunities. A guide dog is an example of reasonable accommodation; others include restructuring a job, modifying work schedules, and acquiring or modifying equipment. #EmploymentDisabilityResources #DisabilityInclusion #BreakingBarriers #PromoteInclusion #ReasonableAccommodation

Food for thought! As we enter and dive deeper into lowering standards in order to get people when the FD is hiring! As a fire service, we constantly draw lines in the sand, erase them, back up, draw another line, erase it, back up, etc… I find it increasingly alarming that we are consistently lowering or removing hiring standards or requirements in order to check boxes and please agenda-driven mayors and politicians. The police, paramedic, and fire service are fields where you DO NOT want to lower said standards or people die! It’s on us to keep fighting!!
