🩸 Be a Lifesaver This December – Donate Blood 🩸 As we approach December, a time of celebration for many, it is also, tragically, a period when gender-based violence (GBV) and domestic violence cases spike in South Africa. Behind the statistics are real women – daughters, mothers, sisters – whose lives are at risk. Imagine this: a woman attacked by someone she loved and trusted, fighting for her life in a hospital, her survival depending on a blood transfusion. Your donation could be the difference between life and loss. 💔 GBV is not just a statistic – it’s a crisis. But together, we can be the heroes these women desperately need. By donating blood, you give the gift of life and hope. You become a part of their story – the chapter where they are saved and given a chance to heal. 🩸 Here’s how you can help: 1️⃣ Visit your nearest blood donation centre. 2️⃣ Encourage your friends and family to join you. 3️⃣ Share this message to inspire others. Together, we can make a difference, one drop at a time. Let’s save lives. Let’s be the change. #WeBelieveYou #DonateBlood #EndGBV #SaveLives #SAWomenFightBack #TogetherWeCan #16DaysOfActivism #HeroInAction South African National Blood Service

𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐓𝐎 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐁𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐍𝐄𝐄𝐃 𝐀 𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐁𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐈𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐀𝐍 𝐔𝐍𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐓𝐇 Even with many friends and relatives, why do we sometimes have to depend on strangers during emergencies, especially when we need a unit of blood? 1. The friends and family we rely on to donate blood can be selfish and self-centered, often unwilling to donate to anyone, including us. 2. Our friends and relatives may be afraid of blood donation due to prejudiced views and misconceptions surrounding the process. 3. They may not be available in the city when we need them. 4. Their blood type might not match what we require, and hospitals typically do not allow for exchanges. 5. They may have recently donated blood and thus be ineligible to donate again. 6. Some may suffer from diseases or have medical conditions that prevent them from donating blood. 7. They might be taking medication that disqualifies them from donating. 8. If they consumed alcohol the previous night, this could also bar them from donating blood. 9. There are many legitimate reasons why someone may not be able to donate blood when we need it, which is why we often have to seek out strangers and other donors. Every story has two sides. Believing one side to be right does not make the other wrong. But if you can, do donate blood as your blood might not just save one life, but several other lives as well. Blood donation is a noble act #blooddonation #donateblood #DonateBloodSaveLife #thestorymug #candidwithpartha
