☀️🗣️Life is about learning, growing, and THRIVING! 🎈 From the day I graduated college, I’ve embraced the belief that continued learning is the key to success—not just for my career, but for my life. Straight out of college, I was selected for a workforce competencies course at UVA. Over 9 years later, I still love a good graduation picture because each milestone represents a new chapter of development. 🎓✨ Whether it was completing my Master’s program during COVID (talk about perseverance!) or now finishing the MBL Entrepreneurship Program, I’ve always challenged myself to ask the tough questions, stay committed, and push boundaries. My great aunt always said, “just keep living,” and that’s the same advice I give my clients: ➡️ Keep living. ➡️ Keep committing to yourself. ➡️ Keep thriving. At Careers by Christina Taylor, I use my years of education and experience to provide high-level services to help YOU turn your skills and story into success. I graduated from Harvard University with an Ed.M. On graduation day, 2 of my friends and I made a pact: we were going to come back in 3 years as MBA students. You see, we never felt good enough with "just" an Ed.M. Societally, we place so little importance on education vs. business that it's no surprise we planned to spend $120K we didn't have to close our own self-esteem gap. After all, the social hierarchy on campus reinforced it: The only thing considered less cool than being an Ed student was being a Divinity student. No wonder so many successful founders without an MBA face-off with that itsy, bitsy internal whisper that says... "you're not a 'real' business person because real business people have a degree they earned, they don't have to figure out things with real world experience." Even if WE ARE JUST AS SUCCESSFUL as MBAs. I've had this convo with numerous founders recently, i.e. that secret imposter syndrome of not being a business expert even if our IRL achievements say otherwise... Turns out, none of us returned for that business degree. 1️⃣ One became a prolific international author. 2️⃣ The other started & exited an award-winning social enterprise in the Middle East. 3️⃣ And you know what I did. Lesson learned: Yes, the degree often matters. But often seeking the right experience, and using THAT as your body of knowledge, can be just as relevant as a paper with a nice, three-letter acronym. (Somewhat inconvenient side-note: overcompensation may also be a factor to how some under-estimated founders often drive better business outcomes)

The years that matter most. Allow me to convince you why you need to forward this post to students in your network 👇 The years that matter most → that’s how I like to describe the final 2-3 years at university. Not only because they are a sh*t-ton of fun, but also because they lay the foundations for what’s next. Even better: these two can (& should!) be combined. Looking at friends today, they’re doing cool stuff: working at startups, founding their own companies, a career in big tech, careers abroad, …. And all of them will say that these couple years at a student organization made all the difference (agree Joyce, Lotte, Roald, Nathan, Emma, Daan, Hendrik, Simen, Lennert?) @𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴: there are about 60 ‘professional student organizations’ in Leuven, and they are all looking for their next teams. Some I can recommend: 👉 Academics for Technology → if you’re interested in technology startups (link in comments!) 👉 Capitant → if you’re interested in finance 👉 Emergent Leuven → if you’re interested in data analytics & AI 👉 Academics for Development → if you’re interested in social entrepreneurship 👉 Academics For Companies → if you’re interested in consultancy & corporate 👉 Greenhill Capital Belgium → if you’re interested in investing @𝘕𝘰𝘯-𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴: forward this message to students in your network. Why? Your message might kick off a butterfly effect. My only regret is that I didn’t join one sooner. (application deadlines are approaching, already starting in february for some!) Oh yeah, about the picture: that's the first time we got together with the new team during Summer at AFT. Teambuilding & presentations about the plans for the upcoming academic year 🦄
