How does Azure App Service host ASP.NET apps? You can use Azure App Service to host your ASP.NET application in an App Service plan. The App Service plan will define a set of compute resources for your ASP.NET application. Think of the compute resources as being similar to an on-premises server farm. The compute resources will consist of VMs that contain the software that's necessary to host your application. This might be a VM running a Windows Server product with IIS hosting the app. The app will use other resources as well, such as: 1. Networking resources to provide access to the web application through the standard port 80 or HTTPS port 443. Networking also provides options for DNS and public IP addressing configurations. 2. Monitoring and logging options for the service. 3. Access control through Microsoft Entra ID and role-based access control (RBAC). 4. Other options that are available, depending on your required configuration for the specific application such as database access and the scaling and availability options. 5. A storage option for various files needed to host the application.

PnP PowerShell 2.4.0 is out now ! Contains 15 new awesome cmdlets, major improvements, changes and bug fixes. Highly recommend updating this as it also contains a security fix for a moderate level vulnerability. Some major highlights: ✅ Added cmdlets to handle SharePoint Embedded ✅ Added Convert-PnPFile cmdlet to convert files from one format to another ✅ Added support for non-commercial cloud environments (US Gov, US Gov High, China cloud , US DoD etc.) for all Power Platform related cmdlets. ✅ Added additional parameter support for quite a lot of cmdlets. It wouldn't have been possible without the generous help and support from our contributors, so thank so much for volunteering !! The Future of Exchange Server Microsoft published an important new article today detailing some of the requirements and recommendations for upgrading Exchange Server to the latest version, Exchange Server SE (Subscription Edition). Upgrading your organization from current versions to Exchange Server SE - Microsoft Community Hub This article applies to all customers running Exchange Server on-premises, including hybrid customers using Exchange Server for hybrid management. The blog post is dense with a lot of information, but the key important points are: Exchange Server SE is the next version of Exchange Server and will be released the second half of 2025. Exchange 2019 CU15 will be released Q4 this year. This will be the last cumulative update for Exchange 2019. There will be no future updates for Exchange 2016. Exchange 2019 CU15 will allow for an in-place upgrade to Exchange Server SE. This is a first for Microsoft. Previous upgrades required new servers. Exchange Server SE will only allow coexistence with Exchange 2016 CU23 and Exchange 2019 CU14/15. Exchange 2013 will become totally unsupported with the release of Exchange 2019 CU15. You must upgrade or remove Exchange 2013 from your organization ASAP. Customers should upgrade their Exchange 2016 servers to Exchange 2019 CU14/15 ASAP to prepare for Exchange Server SE. After Exchange Server SE is released in 2025, Exchange 2016 and 2019 will be subject to throttling by Microsoft. See Throttling and Blocking Email from Persistently Vulnerable Exchange Servers to Exchange Online - Microsoft Community Hub, Licensing for Exchange Server SE will be similar to Exchange 2019 – You either must have an existing Microsoft 365 license for all users or you can buy server licenses and CALs with Software Assurance (SA). Please reach out to EXPTA Consulting if you need help implementing these requirements. We also can meet with you to discuss options for removing the last Exchange Server from hybrid environments.

📢 Microsoft On-premises AD Vs Azure AD. Active Directory (AD) and Azure Active Directory (AAD) are both identity management solutions from Microsoft, but they serve different purposes. 🅰 On-premises Active Directory: Windows Active Directory lives on-premise in servers called Domain Controllers (DC). Each DC contains a catalog of users and computers that are authorized to access resources on the network. Users authenticate to DCs via Kerberos or NTLM authentication. 🅱 Azure Active Directory: Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) is Microsoft’s cloud-based identity and access management service, which helps your employees sign in and access resources. Azure AD is the backbone of the Office 365 system, and it can sync with on-premise Active Directory and provide authentication to other cloud-based systems, Internal resources, such as apps, and intranet via OAuth. 🆎 When to use AD vs AAD! Depending on your organization’s needs, you may use one or the other, or a combination of both in a hybrid environment. 💡 You can see how to Integrate on-premises Active Directory domains with Microsoft Entra ID from this link: https://lnkd.in/dK3jqXJe

In nearly hidden news, Microsoft finally announced the "replacement" for Exchange 2019. Reminder, Exchange 2016 AND Exchange 2019 are end of life in October 2025. Exchange Server SE (SUBSCRIPTION EDITION) TL;DR - It will be a rebranded Exchange 2019 CU (cumulative update) released in Q3 of 2025. RTM is the ONLY version that will be work in an environment with older versions of Exchange! "Setup in CU1 will block coexistence with anything other than Exchange Server SE RTM or later." RTM release of Exchange Server SE will be code equivalent to (e.g., the same exact code as) Exchange Server 2019 CU15, except for the following changes: The License agreement, an RTF file shown only in the GUI version of Setup, will be updated. - The name will change from Microsoft Exchange Server 2019 to Microsoft - Exchange Server Subscription Edition. - The build and version number will be updated. The licensing model used by Exchange Server SE is the same as SharePoint Server Subscription Edition, which requires subscription licenses or licenses with active Software Assurance for server and user licenses. We will continue to provide a free Hybrid server license and key, which will continue to be distributed using the Hybrid Configuration Wizard. https://lnkd.in/eMhvfA6w
