As a QA Manager with decades of experience, I must challenge this traditional framework. While it looks solid on paper, here's what really unfolds on the floor: 1. TQM as Bureaucracy: TQM often devolves into paperwork overload. I’ve seen plants with spotless SOPs and process maps, yet GMP violations persist. Why? Operators are swamped in documentation rather than focusing on quality basics. 2. Lack of Shop Floor Ownership: Without understanding why they’re collecting data, Statistical Process Control is meaningless to operators. 3. Embed QA in Every Step: Reduce complaints by empowering operators to halt production when something felt off—not by adding inspections. 4. Systems vs. Reality: Many quality systems cater more to ISO auditors than actual quality improvement. True quality is built at the gemba, not in manuals. We need systems, yes, but it’s time for a more agile, operator-driven approach. Quality doesn’t happen in charts; it happens on the floor.
