I'm excited to announce the launch of the National Universities Padel League! Kicking off in September, this league is set to be the first of its kind within the UK, aimed at bringing accessible, competitive padel to students across the nation. 🎾🇬🇧 Despite the sport's massive global growth, co-founder Sophia Tweedie and I recently discovered a lack of opportunities for students within competitive padel. With setups like the WPT, PPL, and Premier Padel growing in popularity and showcasing the sport's competitive element, we felt it was only right to give British students the chance to compete by representing their respective universities. This inspired the creation of the National Universities Padel League 🎓🎖️ The league will feature Northern and Southern Premierships, involving 10 universities across England and Scotland, with the ambition of expanding in the future. Additionally, the league will culminate in knockout playoffs, ending in a grand finals day held at a leading UK padel center. This format aims to provide accessible opportunities to all interested universities, foster a strong sense of community, and ultimately celebrate British student padel. 🏆🎉 I would also like to extend a massive thanks to Guy Stonor Alex McAleer in helping getting this whole project underway. As a new league, we are entirely self-funded by our students and are open to any sponsorship, collaborations, or business opportunities. With padel rapidly growing as a sport, we believe there is massive potential within the student space. Please reach out to myself, Sophia Tweedie, Guy Stonor or email nuptl2024@gmail.com with any inquiries. 🤝📧 #padel #padelbusiness #padelgrowth #studentsport #studentpadel #PadelTennis #UKpadel #BritishPadel #PadelOpportunities

We are often quick to rush junior athletes into competition… To throw them into matches to ‘learn to compete’ ‘learn to lose’ ‘To get mentally tougher’ But in reality… Competitions' real value in junior sports comes in the form of development. Developing their problem-solving… decision-making… teamwork… emotional regulation… Junior sport is about the journey as much as the destination. We get caught up in results… In wins and losses… In rankings and positions… But in reality, all that matters is that athletes are developing and becoming the best athletes they can be. All while learning about their sport and themselves. #juniorsport #development #competition

sports days Sports days (British English), field days (American English), or play days (Canadian English) are events staged by many schools and offices in which people participate in competitive sporting activities, often with the aim of winning trophies or prizes. Though they are often held at the beginning of summer, they are also staged in the autumn or spring seasons, especially in countries where the summer is very harsh. Schools stage many sports days in which children participate in the sporting events. It is usually held in elementary schools. Southwest University of Science and Technology sports day opening ceremony In schools which use a house system a feature of the school is the competition between the houses; this is especially brought out during sporting events such as an inter-house sports day. Games that are played on school sports days can be wide and varied. They can include straightforward sprints and longer races for all age groups as well as egg and spoon races. Three-legged races are run as well as sack races, wheelbarrow races, and parent and child races. Long jumps and high jumps are also held. Additional games are traditionally run in Ireland, and the UK, such as horseshoes. Global India In India, sports days are held for 2–3 days. These include games like football, cricket, throw ball, dodge ball, volleyball, track and field, basketball etc. These sports days are held between the various houses in a particular school. 🚀 Reflecting on the Last Months of Padel in the UK 🎾 The past six months have been an expected "explosion" for padel in the UK, with the sport gaining serious momentum. I’ve had the privilege of witnessing some of these changes firsthand, and it’s clear that the landscape of padel is transforming at an exciting pace. Here are a few specific areas that have caught my attention: - Rising Skill Levels - It's been incredible to watch how quickly players, especially younger ones, are making their mark on the padel scene, winning major tournaments in such a short time. Personally, I've seen a huge shift – players I used to hit with who were beginners, often former high-level tennis players, are now outpacing me on the padel court within just a few months. And honestly, it's a bit frustrating! But this just highlights how accessible padel is and how quickly you can improve, with a relatively low entry barrier for new players to get competitive. - Schools and Universities - There's been a noticeable surge in interest from students when it comes to padel, which could be a game changer for schools and universities. Institutions that offer padel facilities stand to boost their revenue and attract a wider range of students, both domestically and internationally. With the sport's rising popularity, universities that embrace padel will not only enhance student life but also position themselves as more appealing to potential recruits, especially with the global appeal of the game. - Local Communities - This is, by far, the most important aspect for me. Padel has evolved into more than just a sport—it's truly fostering local communities. I’ve witnessed friendships form, social events suceed, and local tournaments bring people together. Padel stands out as one of the most inclusive sports today, welcoming players of all backgrounds and skill levels. To give you an idea of how strong this community is, I have around 100 WhatsApp groups just for organizing padel games. Looking Ahead: As we look to the next six months, what are your predictions for padel in the UK? I'd like to know the areas that still need more development. Experiences and opinions of my connections about the UK Padel Scene. #PadelUK #PadelCommunity #PlayerDevelopment #UKPadel #PadelGrowth #PadelQuestions #Reflection #SportsInUK #SportsForAll

"All these young people do nothing but watch TikTok all day—it's making them stupid." A comment I hear daily from older generations who believe today's youth have it easy and don't want to lift a finger. But is this really the case? What is expected from today's youth, to own a startup at 17 years old? Are there actually opportunities for them to develop their talents and interests? Take the International Young Breeders World Championships, for example. This event took place this weekend at Stutteri Ask and gathered teams from all over the world. Organized by the WBFSH, it's a wonderful format where young breeders compete in various tests, can attend lectures and meet people with similar interests. Any teenager interested in breeding would love to be a part of that. And yet, not a single Spanish studbook was present. In fact, as far as I know, neither ANCCE nor Ancades has a program for young breeders in Spain. We can't expect young people to excel if we don’t provide them with the resources and platforms they need to develop their skills. Instead of criticizing, we should focus on creating environments where they can thrive. Let's stop blaming the youth and start supporting them. The success of events like the International Young Breeders World Championships shows what young people can do when given the chance. #YouthEmpowerment #SupportTheNextGeneration #EquestrianSports #YoungBreeders #FutureLeaders #InternationalYoungBreedersWorldChampionships #InvestInYouth
