Hi, my name's Chris. I work at Brentwood Academy. I work in achievement support with students who for various reasons struggle to access mainstream schooling. Many of them have social and emotional mental health challenges which acts as barriers to their learning. Hi, my name is Andy Keenan. I am the founder and managing director of Osmus Mentoring Inclusion Services. We've been working with Osmosis for a while now and it's been really useful alternative provision for some of our students. To be out of school in a different environment and working with osmosis in it in a mentoring style approach, which then when they come back into school is useful and helps them, helps them engage with their learning better. The mentoring approach is, is quite different. We can take a much more sort of relaxed approach. We don't have to be as, as structured. Osmus is really useful for for our students. Many of the barriers that they face they associate with school and it gives them a chance to talk to somebody. He's not a teacher who's out of school who can, who can help them work on some of the difficulties that they might face within school, but also in in the community and and in their home lives. The majority of children and young people who who attend those miss often say that they don't feel listened to or nobody understands them. And that's hopefully what our one to one approach enables them. Again, that that feeling of trust, confidence to building back up to build their self esteem, to feel listened to, to feel wanted. And that's a big part of what of what we offer. Where Osmus has has really had an impact is with those students who in many ways of fail to engage in in any of the other things that we've done. And because they they listen to students and the way that they they engage with them through a variety of activities, which students. Have had some input into choosing, creates a space where those young people can actually talk about the issues that are affecting them in a way that they may feel less comfortable doing in a school environment. So the been within education for the last 22 years. Over that time I've built up really good relationships with school and likewise with the relationships with children. That communication with the schools is also important. They trust. They can come to me, straight to me, talk to me about various situations and likewise I can approach the schools and discuss various issues or difficulties with them if anything arises. This is really good and it's an important key part of how it all works. What's really important for us is that things change quite quickly with some of our young people and Ausmus have always been easy to communicate with and and reactive to that so that if we need to change. Something something isn't working. We can do that almost immediately. The number of the schools that we do work with say that if it wasn't for osmosis, they don't think they'd be able to place that that child anywhere else. We do take children that generally on won't fit into to any other other provision. Couple of examples is a a nursery child that they they didn't see a way through when they didn't see him being settled. He's been out with us and reintegrated. Back into school, back into mainstream, still being supportive and minute, but it's envisaged that he'll be back in full time hope for the start of next year by himself with no support. And then on the other side of that, the other end of the spectrum is a year 11 that wasn't expected to see through their GCSE. With the help of Osmus and support of our staff, they've managed to see themselves through to the end of the school year, do their exams and leave. In the best place possible, I recommend those missed two other schools and educational providers for working with those students who are really disengaged and hard to reach in other ways. Osmosis are they're really approachable and flexible in their approach and I found them really easy to work with.
