What is the KEY 🔑 to success ? Let me explain…. Yesterday, I had the privilege of capturing an incredible moment at the ZOUTE GRAND PRIX : three CEOs of BMW Belux reunited in one picture 📸 !! Each of them has had - or still has - a very specific impact on our company. In the middle is Philippe Dehennin (who hired me in 2003, giving me the opportunity to launch my career at the BMW Group). Philippe embodies a combination of empathy, expertise and commitment that has left a lasting impact on everyone who has worked with him. He taught us everything about premium behavior. On the right is Eddy Haesendonck, who showed us that running a business successfully is like competing at the highest level in sports. His leadership and his “Mens sana in corpore sano” conviction led us to become the #1 automotive brand in Belgium with BMW. His motto, “Speed is key, but anticipation is better,” continues to guide our path today. On the left is Alexander W. Wehr our current CEO (who entrusted me with the responsibility of leading MINI - a role for which I am truly grateful). Alexander’s impressive experience, unmatched energy, focus, and analytical skills keep BMW Belux balanced in a VUCA world. In times of unprecedented change in our industry, he anchors our motivation and maintains BMW’s pole position, along with driving MINI’s unprecedented growth. Why do I share this? When I first came to Advanced MedTech on 1 July, 2014, the CEO and COO of the predecessor company represented to the Board that there was no talent in the company... They said that there were no leaders capable of taking over from them. The company faced significant challenges at the time. Sales had been declining for more than 15 years, and the company was unprofitable. The situation could not be more different today, a decade later. The team has not just turned the company around, they have propelled it to unprecedented growth, profitability, and returns. The progress is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and innovation embodied in each employee of Advanced MedTech(AMTH). ALL credit for the turnaround belongs to the team. Every day, our employees live and breathe our core values: - Urgency in Collaboration - Customercentric Innovation - Authentic Leadership Spending time with our 1,500 employees has inspired me over these years. Last week, I visited Kitty Hawk, where Orville and Wilbur Wright achieved the first powered flight in 1903. The experience of witnessing children's excitement, running faster than that historic airplane, sparked key insights for me as an innovator: - Strength is essential! Innovation often requires envisioning the future and stepping beyond the norm, even when faced with resistance from those who may not fully grasp the vision or are entrenched in the status quo. - Humility is crucial! The messy process of innovation, like the Wright brothers' 400+ flights in just three days, emphasizes the importance of embracing a 'safe to fail' mindset to learn from setbacks. - Optimism is key! Firsts in innovation are undervalued, highlighting not only the achievement but also the new opportunities it creates for the future helps to communicate the value of foundational achievements. - Receptivity matters! Innovation flourishes with a supportive environment, as demonstrated by the Wright brothers' journey, underlining the significance of a supportive circle, even when others may not fully understand your vision. Key Takeaways: 📌 Need to enhance the business environment societally, regulatorily and technologically 📌 Having disruptive innovation, by encouraging disruptive thinking 📌How Alpha Gamma Nu, along with Sanjay sir, Anita ma'am, and Sahil Bhargava and Ujjwal Thaakar's Bharosa Club, can give a head start to that change.
