A recent poll at NAVIGATE Miami, Revinate’s conference, revealed that OTA commissions for hotels range widely, from 10% to over 25%. These commissions are growing faster than guest-paid revenue, impacting hotel profit margins and reducing revenue capture rates despite increases in ADR and guest spending. While guests are paying more to stay, hotels are keeping less, underscoring the negative impact on Net Operating Income (NOI) and asset valuation. To counter this, hotels really need to focus on boosting direct bookings. Using tools like Customer Data Platforms (CDPs), they can pinpoint loyal guests and woo them away from OTAs with personalized offers and better deals.
