Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) Day. The theme for this year is "Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future." This theme recognizes the important role that persons with disabilities play in creating a more inclusive and sustainable world for all. By adopting the colour purple during this day, individuals and organisations show their commitment to promoting inclusivity and equality for disabled people. Although Autism is not a learning disability, it is estimated that about 50% of people with autism may also have a learning disability. A learning disability is a neurological condition that affects a person’s ability to process, understand, or retain information, which can make it challenging for them to learn new things or perform certain tasks. See comments below for more information. #LearningDisability #IDPD #Inclusivity #Future #Equality Sources: Wikipedia.org, idpwd.org, twinkl.co.uk

Disability is NOT a barrier; discrimination IS. Being disabled doesn’t mean being unable. People with disabilities possess just as much potential, creativity, and determination to achieve their dreams as anyone else. The true challenge lies in breaking down the barriers of prejudice, stereotypes, and exclusion they face every day. Let’s create a world where opportunities are inclusive, where accessibility is a priority, and where every individual, regardless of ability, is valued for their talents and contributions. Together, we can shatter misconceptions and build a society where everyone can thrive. #DisabilityIsNotInability #InclusionMatters #EqualOpportunities #BreakTheBarriers
