When Cash App launched in 2013, sending money was very traditional - where users had to have an e-mail/phone number to do so. But In 2015, Cash App introduced $𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗵𝘁𝗮𝗴𝘀, making peer-to-peer payments even simpler. Users would send money in a same way that they send direct messages on social media - via @handles. By 2017, it launched Bitcoin trading just before Bitcoin hit its first $20k milestone, giving users new reasons to engage with the app. The big turnaround happened in mid 2018, where Cash App tapped into the hip-hop community by partnering with influential artists: In May 2018, rapper Lil’ B teamed up with Cash App. By August 2018, Travis Scott joined, and by December, Snoop Dogg became a partner. With Cash App sponsorship, these artists gave away $100-$500 to fans who shared their $cashtags under posts, creating massive engagement. This resulted in Cash App being 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲-𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟬 𝗵𝗶𝗽-𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀. This strategy has helped Cash App achieve what many brands only dream of: 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁.
