🔔 PRESS ALERT: Samsara Vision is pleased to share that we have been mentioned in a news brief in the May 2024 issue of Retinal Physician. The brief states: "Rehabilitation training can improve visual function and real-world tasks, such as reading skills, in patients with late-stage AMD, who are implanted with the smaller-incision new-generation miniature telescope (SING IMT), according to a study. The study included 11 patients who were monocularly implanted with SING IMT and then followed a rehabilitation program. Both reading acuity and reading speed were found to be significantly improved from the first rehabilitation session (6 weeks after surgery) to the last session (24 weeks after surgery), and most patients (55%) achieved an improvement of 15 letters in BCDVA at the end of the study." Thank you, Retinal Physician, for calling attention to our study and the positive impact the SING IMT is having on late-stage AMD patients. #Ophthalmology #Retina #MedicalDevice Read the full issue here: https://lnkd.in/eyYrMiUv

What does it take to give up or reduce intra-op fluoro for DAA total hips? Imageless navigation has shown to have better performance, while reducing radiation and improving surgical workflow. Is this enough? #orthopaedics #orthopedics #arthroplasty #DAA #orthopedicsurgeon

Thoracic discectomies are among the most challenging cases spine surgeons face. Full-endoscopic surgery has made a significant impact, drastically reducing perioperative morbidity. As we prepare for the upcoming AO Spine webinar with Roger Härtl Juan Uribe, MD Albert Telfeian – MISS Nov 13 at 8PM, I’m excited to share five essential tips to help master these complex procedures: 1️⃣ Feel the Bump Thoracic disc herniations are often located ventrally to the spinal cord, making an optimized approach trajectory essential for safe access. We've identified the angle of the rib—easily palpable and approximately 8cm off the midline— as a reliable landmark. The incision is made slightly lateral, and a joimax Jamshidi needle is then advanced to the target under tactile control. Notice (see arrow) how easily the skin can be lifted, enhancing access. On combination with a “spared bar”, his lateral entry approach facilitates a nearly lateral trajectory, providing a safer and more effective technique. Stay tuned for more insights! #ESRG #Endospine #iSERF #Joimax #AOspine

Unlocking Precision with Triggered EMG in Neuromonitoring 🔬 At Axiom Neuromonitoring, we believe that advanced technologies like triggered EMG (Electromyography) are pivotal in ensuring surgical precision and patient safety. ⚡️ What is Triggered EMG? Triggered EMG involves the electrical stimulation of specific nerves during surgery, allowing us to monitor the functionality of motor nerves in real-time. This data helps surgeons make critical, timely decisions to avoid nerve damage, particularly in spinal, cranial, and orthopaedic surgeries. By identifying high-risk nerve areas before surgical intervention, triggered EMG enhances patient safety, providing surgeons with immediate feedback during the procedure. This real-time response enables precise adjustments, minimising the risk of nerve injury and reducing post-operative complications. Ultimately, this technology supports improved surgical outcomes by helping to prevent neurological deficits, leading to quicker recovery and better long-term results. At Axiom, we're committed to integrating cutting-edge neuromonitoring techniques like triggered EMG to help surgeons operate with confidence and ensure the best possible outcomes for patients. 📩 Want to learn more about how triggered EMG can support your practice? Published Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) guidelines strongly recommend digital drainage systems following both cardiac and thoracic surgery. For cardiac cases, digital systems help maintain chest tube patency, while in thoracic cases they may be used to eliminate variability in decision-making and facilitate early mobilization. The guidelines are supported by clinical data demonstrating that digital drainage “reduces chest tube duration and hospital stay.” Visit Centese.com to learn how the #Thoraguard intelligent chest tube management system utilizes ERAS-recommended digital technology to transform #cardiac and #thoracic surgical recovery.
