This is too good not to share! "Just a Buck, Giving Back to Nurses" is a Facebook group created so #nurses can financially help one another. Every week, one nurse's name is drawn from the previous week's list of givers. Everyone gives the winner $1. Once you give, you're placed on the list for the next week's drawing. The concept is easy, but the impact is powerful. ⭐ Nurses support each other. ⭐ A donation of $1 a week or $52 a year is achievable for most people. ⭐ It shows the collective power of nurses. My $1 donation isn't much alone but added to thousands of other nurses willing to support and care for each other; it adds up to a significant amount of money that can greatly help. What can we learn from this FB group and whoever started it? 🌈 Small acts are how we'll change the future of our profession! We don't have to take huge leaps every day, just small, consistent steps in the same direction will help us reach significant goals. 🌈 So, take the small steps. Before you know it, you'll look back and realize just how far you traveled and how much of a difference you made! https://lnkd.in/gDCZ3WBq #nursesonlinkedin #healthcareonlinkedin
Our mission is to empower nurses by nurturing their big ideas, creativity and resiliency through connection, promotion, essential resources and opportunities. Join our grassroots movement of Nurses supporting Nurses
Has anybody else heard of the "Just A Buck, Giving Back to Nurses" facebook group? Every week they draw a lucky nurse and throughout the week, everyone in the group sends that nurse $1 via venmo. The nurses that give are entered in the next week's drawing. Over the years they have collectively gifted over $4 million and helped so many nurses pay off debt, buy a house, car or take a vacation. It's a pretty brilliant model they have worked out. Since all donations are only $1 each from different people, there are really no tax implications for the winnings. It's such a great example of the amazing things nurses can do when we work together. #nurses #nursesoflinkedin

Great article on the US nursing shortage and one potential way to reduce it. The article is especially noteworthy because it addresses the shortage of #nursing #faculty as a contributor to the nursing shortage. In addition, it mentions the large number of trained nurses who choose to leave the profession due to a variety of causes often related to working conditions. #health #healthcare #hospitals #charity #nonprofit

This week is National Nurses Week. How can medical practices celebrate nurses? Here are four ways how, according to the NurseJournal: 1. Self Care: Nursing is a stressful job that can lead to nurse burnout. Give nurses the time and space needed to take care of themselves. 2. Recognition: Let nurses know that you appreciate them. Send them an appreciation text, phone call, online message, or gift. 3. Professional Development: Be understanding when nurses need time to study. You can also show support by donating to nursing schools or professional nursing organizations. 4. Community Engagement: Support the health and professional growth of nurses nationwide. When you support a nurse, you support an entire community. Thank nurses for all they do for patients, their families and our communities. They really make the difference! #NationalNursesWeek #NursesWeek

We often think about where we are now in life/career and where we still want to go. But we forget about how far we’ve already come. Take time to write down past accomplishments, successes, triumphs, and obstacles overcome. This might include getting through school, surviving a serious illness, getting a promotion at work, raising great kids, moving on after a relationship breakup, and so on. It may take some time to compile a comprehensive list, but it’s worth the time and effort. When you focus on what you’ve already done, it will give you the strength and courage to keep moving forward. Your past successes will help to propel you forward. When you accomplish something new, add it to the list! #NursePower #nurse #nurses #nursing #NursesOnLinkedIn

A Call to Action for Social Work: Learning from Nursing's Leadership in Advocacy, Innovation & Well-being Nurses continue to lead innovation from the frontlines, supported by incredible professional organizations that excel in advocacy, policy, & marketing efforts. These organizations have made significant strides in addressing nurse #burnout & improving patient care outcomes, especially post-pandemic. For example, initiatives like the American Nurses Association's "Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation" campaign & partnerships w/funders like Johnson & Johnson have prioritized nurse #wellbeing on a national scale. Meanwhile, the social work profession—which has faced some of the highest rates of burnout is struggling to achieve the same level of visibility & support. Despite being the largest provider of mental health services in the U.S., playing a critical role in addressing social determinants of health, we lack the widespread recognition and funding our contributions warrant. Did you know? 💡 According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are 700,000+ social workers, many working in critical areas like healthcare, mental health, and child welfare. Social workers help to significantly reduce healthcare costs by addressing social determinants of health, improving care coordination, and preventing hospitalizations and readmission rates. Yet, social workers feel so undervalued in their roles, contributing to burnout and alarming trend of professionals leaving the field. Despite our evidence-based impact, there are few large-scale initiatives focused on social work innovation, burnout reduction, and professional support. And it shows: Many social workers I know have opted out of professional organizations because they don't see the value. There's no comparable funding or partnerships for social work innovation like what we see for nursing. This is a call to action. We need to rally our community, as exhausted as we may feel, to advocate for the long-term viability of our profession. Social workers are changemakers, innovators, and leaders. It’s time we amplify our voices, showcase our solutions, and demand the support and funding we deserve. Let’s learn from the nursing community’s success and take bold steps to secure our place in the future of healthcare and human services before care coordination and mental health is delivered by chatbots - you all know what I'm talking about. The growing trend is here with AI rapidly advancing into spaces traditionally occupied by human professionals. While technology can be a valuable tool to support our work, it cannot replace the empathy, critical thinking, and nuanced understanding that social workers bring to complex human experiences. If we don’t act now to advocate for our profession, innovate within our field, and showcase our unique value, we risk being overshadowed or displaced in critical areas of human health. What ideas do you have to spark this change? Let’s start the conversation.👇
