Our business development grant helped secure $1.4 million in funding from the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation to establish the Salt Water Fresh Water Arts Alliance - an arts social enterprise owned by a consortium of Mid North Coast LALCs. For every $1 invested by NSWALC, we attracted $27 in external funding! www.alc.org.au/our-impact #ArtsAlliance#EconomicGrowth #NSWALC

https://lnkd.in/exrpm4WU Sadly, we have been unsuccessful in recent attempts to get assistance from The Mabon Trust led by our Rhondda MP - and, disappointingly in 2024 that negative outcome has arrived yet again. There you go - and with diminishing school budgets - education is obviously not a priority for our political forces. However, the Mabon Fund recommended some other funders including two sports bodies (World of Words is a literacy project!) and the National Lottery Community Fund (who do not support schemes operating in school time!). These recommendations just about sum up the scant disrespect to the wondrous work of World of Words. The harsh fact is that our decision makers show no interest. From Westminster, the Senedd and on to the local authority (elected or employed) there is negligence to a WOW programme that has offered major positives to so many local children and their families. We will keep on fighting but it is quite obvious that those within the Rhondda hierarchy will not be acknowledging or commending the industrious endeavour of www.worldofwords.education Sometimes it makes one think that all of the graft is fruitless but those thoughts are ephemeral because the long hours keeping things afloat are worthwhile when the positive responses of the children keep on keeping on! Viva WOW!

What does it really take to further support local humanitarian efforts? We've seen the community impact across many areas of work. learn more below. Simply put - this type of funding mechanism must be increased to continue the shift to the people doing important work around the world #localisation #engagement #humanitarian International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC
Manager, Coordination and Knowledge Development, National Society Development Services (NSDS) at IFRC
Today’s theme at the NSD Café Lounge was all about the National Society Development Funds. We were thrilled to welcome so many visitors, sharing how the three critical funding mechanisms – the Capacity Building Fund (IFRC-CBF), National Society Investment Alliance (NSIA), and Empress Shôken Fund (ESF) – empower National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies worldwide. Together, these funds help unleash the potential of each National Society, strengthening them as resilient local actors. The spirit of the #RCRC24 Statutory Meetings echoed loud and clear: investment in one National Society enhances the collective power of the entire network. Let’s continue rising to tomorrow's challenges, enhancing local responses, and building community resilience! 💪🌍 #RedCross #RedCrescent #CBFforLocalAction #NSD

The compact was a powerful negotiation tool in the 90s and 00s, however it was surprising how many commissioners were not aware of it. This proposed 'Covenant' agreement, if coproduced with vcs could make a huge difference. #compact #covenant #coproduction #commissioning #charity #community #proofpudding
This has to be good news for anyone working in the not for profit sector struggling with increased demand but ever decreasing funding from public sector partners, and in particular short term funding agreements instead of more strategic funding partnerships to support the most vulnerable in society. The proof, as they say, will be in the pudding.

NCVO and ACEVO are working closely with the government to develop the Civil Society Covenant - a new framework that aims to reset how government engages with civil society, creating lasting positive changes for charities, community groups, and social enterprises. Why does this matter? For too long, the relationship between civil society and government has been transactional. The Civil Society Covenant seeks to change this by establishing a shared commitment to work together on challenges facing our communities, creating a foundation for resilient, connected, and empowered communities across the UK. The Covenant is built on four guiding principles: 🔹 Recognition of civil society’s independence and value 🔹 Partnership to enhance service delivery and inclusive decision-making 🔹 Participation to ensure communities have a voice in decisions that affect them 🔹 Transparency for open communication and data-sharing How to get involved Civil society organisations and groups of all sizes, including charities, community groups, social enterprises, cooperatives and funders, are encouraged to share their views and experiences to shape the final framework. Learn more about the Covenant and complete the feedback form by 12 December: https://lnkd.in/egrnCiuu
