Conversations are heating up for the future of defense technology at the Emerging Technologies for Defense Conference and Exhibition! Tracy Frost, DoD ManTech director and director of Technology Industrial Innovation Base at the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, led the breakout session "OSD ManTech: Powering the Transition of Critical and Emerging Technologies." Introduced by Jim Segelstrom, Chair of the Manufacturing Division at NDIA, this one-hour plenary session featured Berardino Baratta, CEO of MxD, Dr. Greg R Hudas, government program manager at The ARM Institute, Ira Moskowitz, executive director of The ARM Institute; and Steve Luckowski, program director of DoD ManTech Manufacturing Innovation Institutes and highlighted the pivotal role of OSD ManTech portfolios in advancing critical and emerging technologies. Attendees gained insights into the successful transition of technologies through various initiatives and partnerships. The discussion spotlighted success stories from the manufacturing innovation institutes and the Joint Defense Manufacturing Technology Panel, illustrating key challenges like the Organic Industrial Base Challenge and the Point of Need Challenge. It is always a pleasure to meet each other face-to-face and to work together during this two-day conference. These academic and industrial members are actively engaged in shaping TPRC’s research roadmap, that comprises the topics that we focus on.
