It may be my deep love of patterns and analysis, typefaces, movies, people stepping out, or all of it coming together in this video, but I am hungry for more. There are channels and creators putting out great conversations and presentations, but it's saddening that I don't find much else like this coming out of India. Established media houses like Vox have a dedicated segment called By Design, among many other thematic threads they run. And then there is the great work independent designers are putting out, of course. It's more than this specific field. There was a time when NDTV used to do a lot of differentiated content, but sadly the media houses in India are in no mood to let up on the horses that died a long time ago. And we, who consume controversy unlike anything else, are to blame, too. That said, let's come back to my appetite. Did you know India has the world's biggest film studio? Yep, it's where they filmed Bahubali, Golmaal, Chennai Express, RRR, and over 2000 other movies. And guess what? I recently went there to shoot my 3rd long-form YouTube video. Here's some cool stuff I found out: 1. It’s hugeeee: Seriously, it's massive! You could fit 26 of the world's biggest cricket stadiums inside. And let me tell you, I was exhausted just walking around. 2. Ready-made Sets: They've got over 500 setups ready to go. You can get into a set that looks like a hospital for a Munna Bhai scene, or the police station from Singham and Drishyam. Fun fact: you can shoot over 40 movies at once because of these sets. 3. Specialized streets: The streets are hyper realistic you would feel like you are walking in college or a popular lovers lane. In fact, they even have streets that looks like Rome, Japan, or London. 4. Talented Designers: The reason this place rocks? It's all thanks to the talented designers who bring everything to life. They make over 10,000 things every year, from props to buildings. And there are over 500 of them working their magic! Want to see this place for yourself? Well, lucky you! Merchandise as a form of additional revenue is a very popular concept abroad. However in India we have not yet gone big on Movie Merchandise so far. Is there potential? Yes of course. But there are challenges. You need to think with a series mindset in order to maximize merchandise. We can have Disney/Avenger/Harry Potter merchandise since these are characters that travel across a series of films. In India, we are still testing waters with the sequel concept. So how can we expect the merchandise to get popular with just a single hit movie? Bottom-line, movie producers need to concentrate on creating the series mindset before they can create popularity for the merchandise and aim to gather additional revenue from it. We can definitely dream of a future where Bahubali themepark can be a popular tourist destination. When I saw this brand film, I thought it is a movie promo, it took me few seconds to figure out that it’s a brand film by SNITCH. It seems like this is first brand film by Snitch at this level.
