❄️ Capturing Svalbard’s Concrete Facades ❄️ In Svalbard’s harsh arctic climate, documenting the erosion on a concrete building’s facade demands more than precise scanning—it requires visualization tools that tell the whole story. While laser scans capture with millimeter accuracy, most point cloud rendering solutions fail to depict this level of detail. NUBIGON v7 changes that with Physically Based Rendering (PBR) and Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO), delivering unparalleled realism and depth. Transform your projects into compelling visual narratives with NUBIGON v7. 👉 Discover the difference today! https://lnkd.in/dms9Yhrt

🏛️ While it’s always bittersweet to see historic buildings come down, as demolition progresses, there’s a silver lining: preservation through technology. 🌐 Kansas State University Planning enlisted our help to document these buildings using our NavVis #VLX. 📡This advanced tool captures not only panoramic images but also highly accurate, colorized point clouds. In the video below, watch as we seamlessly transition from panoramic views to a point cloud, enabling us to navigate and measure any space, interior or exterior, with precision up to 5mm. 📏 This project showcases how modern technology can beautifully preserve our historical legacy. #HistoricPreservation #NavVis #TechnologyInAction #KSU #KSUTDI #PointCloud #EngineeringExcellence

"Coastal: A Slow Journey Along Tasmania's Shorelines" is a exploration of the island's unique coastline through various artistic lenses, where I am experimenting with the technique of Gaussian splatting to capture the landscape's essence. Gaussian splatting processes point cloud data, rendering each point as a Gaussian, which merges to form a smooth, continuous surface that can reveal the delicate interplay of light and texture in this case, along Tasmania’s shores. This intricate rendering technique allows for a detailed celebration of the coast's natural geometry and forms, enhancing the viewer's experience and connection to the terrain. This may, if successful sit with the other techniques and approaches I use.

Map projections shape the way we see the world A map projection renders a 3D spheroid of Earth 🌎 to a 2D surface. 🗺️ Because you can't display 3D surfaces perfectly in 2 dimensions, distortions always occur. The Mercator projection too quickly gets a bad rep. As it preserves angles this was crucial for navigating the seas back in the days of Gerardus Mercator. But since for most of us, our audience aren’t skippers, accurate areas or distances are probably more important today. Tools: #QGIS and #Figma #30DayMapChallenge Day 26 Map projections #maps

Interesting. I notice a lot of modular components - very smart design at first glance.

A complete subspace refers to a subset of a metric space or normed space that is closed and contains all its limit points. In other words, if a sequence in the subspace converges, its limit also lies within the subspace. To elaborate: 1. Metric Spaces: A subspace is complete if every Cauchy sequence in that subspace converges to a point in the same subspace. 2. Normed Spaces: In this context, completeness often relates to spaces of functions or sequences, where the subspace must contain all limits of convergent sequences formed by its elements. 3. Examples: The set of continuous functions on a closed interval is complete with respect to the uniform norm. The space of all convergent sequences of real numbers is complete. Design Space Exploration is the process of finding a design that meets the necessary design requirements from a selection of potential designs. We have optimised this process to enable more design options to be explored. What does this mean? More ability to trade off different feasible designs with a reduction in design cost and time as well as clarity in the decision making process. Innovative Design: Inflatable Kinetic Facade for a New Frontier Let's take a break from case studies & look internally. Our latest design pushes the boundaries of kinetic facades with its inflatable structure. Unlike conventional facades, this system expands and contracts, creating adaptable, resilient spaces that can be deployed rapidly. Drawing on principles of modular construction, this inflatable unit can be produced off-site and easily transported, offering mass production efficiency and quick setup. The design’s compact form mirrors the hydrodynamics of a boat hull, allowing it to float in disaster or rescue scenarios. Its minimal ground contact footprint is ideal for deployment in environments where terrain is limited. These features make it a versatile solution not only for emergency situations but also for space exploration, offering lightweight, self-deploying shelters—an ideal choice for early planetary colonization. It costs around $17.8 million and requires 0.94 cubic meters of compressed gas to inflate.

I guess this is "thinking out of the box" taken to the logical conclusion... make the box out of wood, or in this case, make the satellite housing out of wood using traditional techniques (no nails or screws). In all seriousness, I wonder would a little experience with origami (the art of paper folding) be helpful? #satellites #wood #pollutionreduction https://lnkd.in/gWT9W9V8?

Atmosphere shifts during a solar eclipse? So does the sound!🎶🌒✨ During a solar eclipse, changes occur in the Earth's atmosphere due to the temporary blockage of sunlight by the moon. These changes, such as temperature drops and air pressure fluctuations, can influence the behavior of sound waves. Sound waves may travel at different speeds, experience altered absorption and reflection, and interact differently with the environment during an eclipse. While studying these effects provides insight into the intricate relationship between sound waves and our atmosphere, Kirei's innovative acoustic solutions are designed to perform, no matter the celestial forecast. 📷 above: Custom EchoLine Panels Don't let bad sound eclipse your stellar design.
