This made me laugh. Bank Staff at my hospital are bring bullied and know doubt soon intimidated into signing a bank contract that forces us to apparently be moved to wards we didn't even pick ourselves . You can't call me bank if I'm being forced elsewhere . Unfortunately choice doesn't actually exsist apparently in my hospital. Goes without saying I won't be signing
There is so much research into this area available, a level of autonomy is something we need as humans to thrive. Any Trust which fails to offer elements of choice and flexibility will inevitably lose people…
They should give a choice to work 12 or 8 hours for senior nurses .
No surprises its simple really ,happy staff, happy patient. Stress is a major contribution to staff and work /life balance.
I couldn’t agree more. Many of us have worked on wards where someone does the shift rostering and 1 or 2 requests are allowed per month. That means your entire life is controlled by work - completely unhealthy and outdated in this day and age.
It works beautifully .. I used to work in the NHS I work in San Fransisco now and in my hospital, we work 8 hour shifts, days, evenings and nights. We all chose our positions and I’ve been there nearly 17 years and others there much much longer.
