As Black Maternal Health Week comes to a close, let's end on a note of empowerment and awareness. Throughout this week, we've shed light on critical issues like preterm birth weight, premature babies, gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, and even the impact of oral health on maternal well-being. But our journey doesn't end here. It's a reminder that we must continue advocating for equitable access to healthcare for all mothers, regardless of race. Every mom deserves the support and resources necessary for a healthy pregnancy journey. As we wrap up this important week, let's carry forward the conversations, the advocacy, and the commitment to making a positive change in maternal health outcomes. Together, we can make a difference. #BlackMaternalHealthWeek #HealthEquity #NurturingSmiles

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that Black women are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women are. It also shows that 80% of all pregnancy-related deaths are preventable. Issues like this one are why Premera supports the work Blue Cross Blue Shield Association is doing to identify and help to close health equity gaps and ensure that every person gets the care they need. We hope you'll join us in working to build a future for healthcare that is safer for every mother, every baby, and every person. #BlackMaternalHealthWeek #BMHW24

Dear Women, Maternal mortality refers to the tragic loss of a mother’s life during pregnancy, childbirth, or within 42 days after delivery. This crisis impacts families, communities, and entire societies, and it's crucial we address it together. Several factors contribute to maternal mortality, including: 1. Limited access to quality healthcare 2. Insufficient prenatal and postnatal care 3. Lack of trained healthcare professionals 4. Cultural beliefs that discourage seeking medical support Each of these barriers can put the lives of mothers and babies at risk, but by understanding these challenges, we can take steps to overcome them. It’s essential for women to prioritize their reproductive and maternal health by seeking regular health check-ups, asking questions about safe practices, and staying informed. Together, we can advocate for better healthcare services and work towards safer pregnancies and healthier lives for mothers and children. Let’s stand united for the well-being of all women and future generations. #CDHING #SelfCare #MaternalMortalityAwareness #HealthyWomen #HealthyBabies #ReproductiveHealth

April 11-17 is recognized as National Black Maternal Health Week. Today, Care Ring (in partnership with Novant Health and Mecklenburg County) hosted a dynamic conference, emphasizing Black maternal health disparities and outlining ways to improve health outcomes. A common theme that resonated throughout was that "most pregnancy related deaths are preventable." This is why it was encouraged from various perspectives to: 💡amplify your voice and speak up 💡ask questions 💡listen with intention and compassion 💡share stories and experiences 💡understand what's needed 💡provide necessary support and resources 💡work together, centering who matters most -- mommy and baby #blackmaternalhealthweek #healthcare #access #resources Next Stage

Investing in maternal health is an investment in healthier families, stronger communities, and a brighter future. Quality maternal health care ensures that mothers not only survive pregnancy and childbirth, but also thrive in their journey through motherhood. By prioritising comprehensive prenatal care, we give mothers and their babies the foundation for healthy development. Safe childbirth practices reduce risks, prevent complications, and promote positive birth experiences, laying the groundwork for a lifetime of well-being. Postpartum support, including mental health resources and education on newborn care, ensures that new mothers have the assistance they need during the critical early days of parenthood. When we invest in maternal health, we strengthen healthcare systems, reduce mortality, and empower mothers to nurture the next generation. Let's commit to making maternal health a top priority for a more resilient and thriving world. #CEBA #PHC #RMNCAH+N
