Yesterday, I had the privilege of being part of the Career PowerUP! event by e2i, where I met and served residents and job seekers who visited our booth. It was a meaningful and fun day, made even more special by the amazing colleagues in this picture who supported and energized me throughout. I want to take a moment to reflect and share some thoughts for anyone seeking inspiration for their career journey: 1️⃣ Find Meaning in Your Work Work becomes fulfilling when it aligns with what you’re passionate about and brings you joy. For me, it’s about doing work that uplifts others positively. Take time to reflect on what drives you, it’s a powerful compass for finding or shaping a meaningful career. 2️⃣ Treasure the People You Work With We spend so much time at work, often more than with our loved ones. Surrounding yourself with people who inspire and support you can transform how you experience work. A great team can make challenges easier to face and successes more rewarding to celebrate. 3️⃣ Embrace the Journey, Not Just the Destination Entrepreneurship has taught me this in the most profound way. The Power of Networking as a Student/ After Effects of guest session: Today, I had the opportunity to be a part of the managing team in an alumni guest speaker session organized by the Alumni Relations Cell, Maharaja Surajmal Institute, an experience reinforcing an essential lesson: the value of networking. Although the event was on employability under the current volatility of job markets. What I realized was the utter importance of networking with industry professionals. A coffee session with them on official company channels could be possible. As students, we are often told about the importance of building connections, but no one tells how to start. how to accelerate the process! It wasn’t until I actively engaged in managing events, completed several internships, and connected with a few industry experts and AOs that I truly understood why networking is critical for professional growth. It’s not just about collecting business cards or LinkedIn connections; it’s about building relationships with industry professionals who can provide insights, mentorship, and most importantly open doors to opportunities we might not have known existed. - What is the difference between an industry professional and an industry expert, one asks? A professional would see everyone at par on a standardized scale, that may or may not miss out on certain talent in an XYZ individual. Whereas, an expert would be keen on understanding the journey of an individual and how that could be leveraged to the best extent. Everyone sees the world through a cultural lens. 🔎 Here’s how we work with students throughout The Global Career Accelerator so they can identify theirs: 💭 Engaging in frequent reflection activities, students develop the ability to articulate their intercultural insights in a way that makes sense to both them and their peers. 📝 Students complete an individual ‘reflection journal’ documenting their learnings, which invited them to process their experience. These activities help them understand how their cultural lens has shaped the way they perceive the world and gain the skills to interact across differences.
